The film that accompanies this song is crazy. It's been all over the yoootoobs off and on over the years.

Plus, what is 'solid potato salad'? Was there a mostly liquid potato salad at some point, now lost to time?

Hi Jan, and Jan-fans! Chresti, I know one thing that makes a polka is the 2/4 beat (ONE-two-ONE-two). But that can't be the only thing that makes a polka, otherwise most hardcore punk would be polka...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am
fred:

@Mr Fab: that insight might change your perception if you revisit hardcore punk (vodka might help too)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am

@Dave: Ay, 'tis! From the golden (?) age of ethnic stereotype records.

Speaking of which, I only just found out that our possible next prez Joe Biden is an irish catholic. But no one seems to be making a big deal out of it this time, not like when JFK was running.

Oh, yes, i was a go-go dancer for Polkacide and that 2/4 beat can be lethal. I was grateful to be in a cage, away from the wild crowd!

Starting archive listen. Interesting to consider that when that Edison minstrel recording was made that most people did not have electric lighting in their home.

WR:

Restarted from the beginning, didn't hear much past the Bing Crosby novelty tune last week. The Lou Bandy Alice's Blue Gown is so lovely. Not just his vocal, the arrangement and playing very appropriate to the song's origin for being a 1955 version.
  Swag For Life Member 1:12am
WR:

Another yay for Burt Shepard Parody On The Suwanee River. Entertaining and very interesting comments from 1902. And The Ramblers, from the Netherlands, at first I thought you had misidentified the famous California Ramblers, the early Dorsey Bros. band not knowing of the hard swinging Dutchmen.
