Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you, MB! :-) <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
StringOFperils:

Thanks for the shout-out MB ! I'm not worthy. I'm a mere tourist.

Hi Brokenwindow! :-)
  4:15pm
Brokenwindow:

Requests? Something French?..Metal Urbain, Pl Bertrand .. you probably have some more medium-cool-er!
  4:16pm
Martinibomb:

I got a stack of Community Library label records here.. maybe I should play some of those?
  4:16pm
Brokenwindow:

whoa! ComLIB! I would appreciate our label getting the airplay, yes please!

Martinibomb:

I know it's make my spakers rattle a bit haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm
StringOFperils:

I faved it.
  4:30pm
Brokenwindow:

I can't quite hear the bottom end, as I'm listening via a pc speaker on a pc that is mounted to the underside of a public library reference desk (Belmont). I am doing IT work while the lib is closed...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
StringOFperils:

Is there gum under there?
  4:32pm
Brokenwindow:

StringOFperils: thanks for the fave, on behalf of the label... and no, the underside of the desk is surprisingly clean. But then it isn't the librarians who are chewing the gum... :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I have a nice little column of yellow clicky stars - loving this music! :-)
  4:33pm
Martinibomb:

I guess I have to play more Community Library.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
StringOFperils:

Oh right, reference desk. The librarians probably have their own nasty rituals. (Gets lost in thought....)
  4:37pm
Martinibomb:

So Strategy here and Dj Broken Window are sorta the Head honchos at Community Library label. It's their baby.
  4:41pm
Brokenwindow:

StringOFperils: rituals- Oh yes, I am in the inner cabal and know all about librarian culture! Why do you think our label is called "Community Library" LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm
StringOFperils:

Thanks. I was going to look this up later...curious re. why all of this is coming out of Portland in the here and now. It's really good.
  4:42pm
Brokenwindow:

This Reanimator EP was recorded just before Katrina and the tapes were recovered from the flooded house a year later and cleaned up. Punks inspired by seeing Panasonic in the 90s, is the story in a nutshell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm
StringOFperils:

Huh. Fascinating. Reassuring that post-drum 'n' bass and all things electronica can push forward into newer territory. Me likey.
  4:46pm
Brokenwindow:

StringOFperils: most of these ComLib tracks are from 2003-2013 releases! We've been working on a Jan Steele retrospective now the last couple years (whew) at a snail pace...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
StringOFperils:

Also pro "regional discourse"...said the eternal pomo art student-type
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My sister in law and my three-year-old niece did a live exercise video today :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm
StringOFperils:

Well, I have a lot of catching up to do....kinda dropped out of being in touch for a few years. For various life reasons, AND over-exposure to ugly radio, AND flat-lining income vis-a-vis buying music, AND...etc etc etc
  4:49pm
Brokenwindow:

ridiculous piano decorative riffs right now, lol! Luv it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm

DJGG...no participaction, as the Canadian govt. phrased it? Weren't into bending it?

Heeeeeey Creature Boy! Nice name
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - I only just found out. lol
Avatar 4:53pm
Creature Boy:

The name comes from a misheard Dylan lyric but yeah it has more of a "low brow" quality
  4:54pm
Martinibomb:

be a good japanese horror manga comic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm going to go to the hour and then break off to make some food and catch the rest in the archives - excellent show so far tho! Thank you for this :-)
  4:55pm
Brokenwindow:

I forget how much this song is like the later Harper Valley PTA...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
StringOFperils:

After Murder Most Foul, Dylan's next album could be called Creature Boy (if he ever does that again)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm
StringOFperils:

Bye GeorgyGirl...thanks again for the great show !
  4:57pm
Martinibomb:

Thanks Georgy Girl SEeeeeeee ya
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar 4:59pm
Creature Boy:

Harper Valley came out exactly one year after "Ode" and yeah it was patterned after the Bobbi Gentry song. Tom T Hall wrote pta
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm
StringOFperils:

I never knew that. Makes complete sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

messing with OwlSun is the next funnest thing on WFMU after hanging out on SJR chatboards
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm

Hi M-Bomb
And GST - good to see you here, also
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm

Stanley! great to see Fat Freddy's Cat again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm

Granny. Talking to The Ayatollah-of-Rock-N-Rollah at length will alter your DNA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

StringOFperils: i've gotten into some truly psychedelic exchanges with the Ayatolluh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm

@GST - like FF's cat I just love that shitkickin' music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm
StringOFperils:

Is that ketchup on your mic ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm
StringOFperils:

ACtually, Martini, I must correct myself. The Noght Owl show isn't on Sheena's, it's on Ichiban...just for the record
  5:12pm
Martinibomb:

^ I knew what you meant
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm
StringOFperils:

I assumed as much; you're there after all. For anyone else, it's a great 60s pop-psyche show for somnambulists, insomniacs, and acidheads
  5:14pm
Martinibomb:

I used to listen to it more when I was pulling all-nighters with work stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm
StringOFperils:

The only reason I'm there these days is....well, you know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm
StringOFperils:

I don't sleep in a casket during daylight hours anymore.
  5:23pm
Martinibomb:

I'm glad you use a casket like a proper Barnabus Collins and not that couch-ey Nick Cage guy.
  5:24pm
Mark R.:

Glad Thievery Corporation are still in business, this is a cool track
  5:26pm
Martinibomb:

^ Yeh I haven't heard them in awhile and this kinda hit the spot today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm
StringOFperils:

Dark Shadows schooled me proper.
  5:28pm
Martinibomb:

I like the 90s HBO version too! Wish they'd made more of that. The guy that plays 'Willie' is Stephen Colbert's director on the late show. I always chuckle at that sometimes
  5:29pm
Brokenwindow:

Haack vocoding is so fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm
StringOFperils:

It has charm. Sorta miss the days when electronics weren't easy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm
StringOFperils:

I was (am) a big fan of people like Chris Carter (TG), and John Foxx.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

OMG! I just saw that movie the other night! "To Be or Not To Be!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

The person was referring to Nazis.
  5:48pm
Martinibomb:

I love Mel Brooks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I saw the Lubitch version
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

My girlfriend and i have been watching all the Lubitch films, which i have never seen before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Carol Lombard in a silky dress that leaves just enough to the imagination! WHOO!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm
StringOFperils:

Lubitsch was great. Peter Bagdanovich always talked about him. Have yet to see that film. The original HEAVEN CAN WAIT is great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm
StringOFperils:

He'd be making TV today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

ooh, gotta see the original Heaven Can Wait!
  5:53pm
Martinibomb:

I love him and Bagdanovich both!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm
StringOFperils:

Carol Lombard was pretty hot stuff, wasn't she.
  5:55pm
Martinibomb:

I got a criterion subscription that's all I watch now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

i just got my gf a sub to CC! It's amazing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm
StringOFperils:

Funny, I've been thinking of subscribing to CRITERION for a month at a time, but I am getting less and less accomplished every day lately. Thanks WFMU ! ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

WFMU meets all of our needs.
  6:01pm
Martinibomb:

I just can't stand scrollling other services for stuff... criterion it's all good. I just click play.
  6:02pm
Martinibomb:

Tho the WFMU ROKU app is pretty rocking. Some great video stuff on there. I was cracking up at some of the funny stuff they made for the fundraiser laster year
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

the main prob with CC is that it doesn't work for syncing remote viewing, when i can't go to my gf's place
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

where do you see ROKU?
  6:05pm
Martinibomb:

I use a roku for my video stream stuff. The WFMU app on that has a bunch of video streams. I think it's all the stuff that is on the vimeo channel. So there ya go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

ooh, vimeo fun!
but when am i NOT listening to WFMU?!?!?
  6:14pm
Martinibomb:

The WFMU Vimeo Channel! Granny go check it out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm
StringOFperils:

gonna Chromecast that later MB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm
StringOFperils:

It comes from 'gina. before I was a full growed idjit, I came from 'gina.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

and that brings us back to moist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm
StringOFperils:

oy vey
  6:31pm
Martinibomb:

So my friend DJ No Breakfast sent me this mix he made. I've been trying to get him on the show.. but different hours etc.. he's pretty great
  6:32pm
Martinibomb:

and... I don't have the tracklist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
StringOFperils:

isn't it all flexi-hours, everywhere and nowhere these days anyway? You should work that out...is it LIVE or is it WFMUorex?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm
StringOFperils:

the way it is right now actually works pretty amazingly
  6:34pm
Martinibomb:

I think this show is at 1am his time? But yeah.. flexi hours seems like we are almost there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
StringOFperils:

1 a.m. that's far east
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
StringOFperils:

the erasure of fixed time within this framework is an aspect of media casting that appeals to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
StringOFperils:

it's like being off of the Earth
  6:40pm
Martinibomb:

It's like a flattening of time... just some places have a few bumps left
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
StringOFperils:

true. people are still working for a living, so that will always require workarounds. Meetings halfway between remote parties aren't always convenient
  6:44pm
Martinibomb:

Plus it's hard to break into groups like school children. You have to speak to the group one at a time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm
StringOFperils:

Yes. The media giants still have a monopoly on that level of 'wrangling'. A lot of money to throw at complex pre-production, global arrangement of multiple personal schedules, purchase of satellite time windows, etc....it's harder to wing it without all that. Still, there is a roughness that is great with what's going on with WFMU right now. It's like news-gathering in a war zone, but it's culture-gathering on the fly....I like the mistakes and the flubs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm
StringOFperils:

And it's democracy in motion
  6:52pm
Martinibomb:

a self organizing chaos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm
StringOFperils:

a beautiful thing my friend
  6:54pm
Martinibomb:

I agree. I hate top-down/boss telling ya what's what
Avatar 6:54pm
Ursula1000:

acknowledging I've been a lurker listener for the last hour. Thank you for playing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm
StringOFperils:

Incredible. It's almost that time. I'd better say thanks, while I have the chance. Great chatting, and really great show. Nice evolving set. Saved my bacon for a few more hours here in isolation. Cheers Martinibomb !
