There's got to be a soundbite from HBO last sunday you could use...poor spite store.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm
Nate K.:

So happy to be back, folks. Thanks for hanging out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm
Handy Haversack:

It's too up! Burn it down!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm
Nate K.:

@ultra, it was a satisfying finale, I thought.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm
Nate K.:

First attempt at a prerecorded show in this particular manner, so hang in there.

Chris Sponer:

The offices of Christoper M Spooner Elementary School are checking in to say "what's up, ballers."

Hey Nate and fellow burnouts! I was lucky enough to have seen Nat Adderley at Sweet Basil back around 1992, great show, great venue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm
Alex of Chicago:

Burn it all down, for real!

Spoonie!

Sounding great, Nate! But of course, it IS Kendra Smith...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm
mariano:

This show always makes me think of the Simpsons episode where Ralph Wiggum and the invisible leprechaun who tells him to burn things. "Burn them all!" www.youtube.com...
  9:18pm
Chris Sponer:

Hopefully you can go back to being Nate The K soon, instead of PS K-Nate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm
Alex of Chicago:

That's..., not Neil Young?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm
ultradamno:

Nope. Apparently not. Though they are Canadian... www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
mariano:

Wow, we were having a Withnail & I talk during an earlier show, so when I saw the name Dundas, I immediately wondered if it was David Dundas, who wrote that amazing guitar-based soundtrack for the movie. Apparently not though. And apparently David Dundas is now Lord David Dundas.

@Spoonie I'm half of the AV Club, Stephanie is the other.

Handy Haversack:

DUN-dus? Or Dun-DASS? I have a friend who uses the former, but the street in Edinburgh is the latter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
Tommy in Neversink:

Many the tunes so far sound very Neil Young influenced...which is a good thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
ultradamno:

Ontario, like Young, in fact (at least that's where the label was based)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
Chop Scott:

Sounds great Nate! Cheers to you & the board op!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
Handy Haversack:

@mariano: Do you think you look normal, Your Honour?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
mariano:

I've heard it pronounced "DUN-dus" in documentary stuff on W&I, it's the way Bruce Robinson says it. Interestingly, though Withnail was based on Robinson's friend Vivian MacKerrell, the real-life weekend in the country was actually Robinson with Dundas. And Monty was based on Bertolucci, who apparently tried to importune him on the set of a movie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm
mariano:

@Handy: Hah! "No man. This was more of a long, white hat."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm

Hey, Kevin the Nate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm

Shouldn't it be more bald than that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm
Handy Haversack:

@sinner: Not sure I mentioned this (it's been a WEEK): but it was pretty awesome being on the phones across the glass when you did "Radio Free Europe" at the Sinfonia that wasn't. That is a HARD song -- I have butchered at karaoke many a time. You all did it with *style*! Respect.

Is Lou singing about Laurie Anderson?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm

@mariano, indeed I am.

I heard this Eno song in a dream once many decades ago. It made me happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm
Aitch:

Someone must have left it underneath the carpet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm
Nate K.:

@rw the stuff about Lou's love for Laurie Anderson was one of the most humanizing parts of an otherwise fairly unflinching bio about him I just read.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm
Nate K.:

@rw But Lou also considered Doc Pomus to be one of his mentors, hence the cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm
ultradamno:

By the way, all of you who were on the Morricone Island board earlier. Looks like Robert Longo deleted that post about Terrence Malick being dead, further strengthening the idea that he got him confused with Terrence McNally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm
mariano:

Oh no way! When I first saw the headline out of the corner of my eye I thought it might be Malick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm

This program is enjoyable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm
mariano:

Wow, Slum of Legs: love that name!
  9:56pm
Chris Sponer:

This Slum Of Legs album is the best new album I've heard in a long time. Too bad for them that I'll always associate them with trying to make my way through a pandemic.
  9:56pm
rw:

Ha! Thanks Nate. I figured if anybody knew it would be you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm
Nate K.:

@Spoonie, yeah, their record dropped at an . . . unfortunate moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm

Right now I think Dispatches From Elsewhere is going to be thing that will be wrapped up in this experience for me. Like Ghost World with 9/11.

The New Pornagraphers' Together is always going to be linked in my head to rough stuff after the 2008 crash, but damn if it doesn't make it stronger for me. I look forward to many years with the now heavier SOL album! (I hope.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm

This is a really good record. I like Meet Me In The City a lot.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm

My cousin's youngest daughter has a really smart mouth and is very quick-witted, especially for a 9-yo. Once when I was looking after her she took a pack of Dum Dums from the candy bowl. I said "Ooh, Dum Dums... perfect candy for you." Without missing a beat she said "What's your perfect candy? Fat fats?" Still feeling that burn!

I forgot that was the Zappa cover. The track listing on that record is very confusing. Also, interesting fact: the main dude in Electronic Hole, Phil Pearlman, his son, Adam, was the American Al Qaeda kid. Crazy.
