Wow, normally I can’t stand Sinatra, but that was pretty good! Of course Nat King Cole is far better but I liked that humanizing effect on Sinatra, he sounded a lot less like a perfect arrogant singing android than usual LOL

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm

@RevRab: Usually a good position with any artist. Except maybe Jandek. I mean, if you're going to be selective, why go there in the first place?

My sister owns the cabin Ferlinghetti built in Big Sur. The location where Kerouac wrote Big Sur and that was a sort of HQ for the beats. Half the cabin got washed away in floods in 2017, but they are rebuilding.

My father went to City Lights when he was in Navy training at Treasure Island in the late 50s, must have been exciting for a young person from West Texas.
Avatar 🥁 1:49pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ferlinghetti - kind of a declamatory style. Always a Cultural voice like that - social. Running the bookstore to represent outsiders & poetry like that goes with that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
Doug Schulkind:

Allen Ginsberg wrote Bixby Canyon Ocean Path Word Breeze at the cabin. (The cabin is in Bixby Canyon, the fold of inland greenery that extends below the iconic Bixby Canyon Bridge.) The title poem describes the magical walk to the ocean from the cabin which was a rustic gambol through the woods, along a creek, with makeshift log bridges and stepping-stone jags. The path had remained virtually untouched since the '50s, but all got washed away in the flood.
Avatar 🥁 1:52pm

Big Sur still a Piscean communion with the voice of the Sea for Jack...
