Wait, now i remember where I heard this album first.

It was QXR2 of all places!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm
doctorjazz:

Hi. I haven't checked them out, but WQXR2's focus is supposed to be the "new classical" arm of the station.

Jeff Moore:

Thanks! Doing a show forces me to go back and pay closer attention to stuff I may not have listened to really attentively in awhile (or, um, maybe ever)
  Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
WR:

Yes. Haven't listened to this CT album in many many many years and my ears have changed a lot since then.
Avatar 6:08pm
Jeff Moore:

That is a real phenomenon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm

Same here, not at all as shocking as when I first bought it. (Still prettyawesome sounding).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm
doctorjazz:

Talk about heavy rotation musicians who haven't been heard from much for some time, there was a time Murray had an album out every 2 weeks, mostly worth hearing. Saw him live many times then too. He loved to Europe, but has moved back and been playing in these parts again. Greattrack! (His Grateful Dead covers album is a favorite).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm

I was following his output pretty closely in the nineties, and need to direct my attention back. Cool if he's playing out locally these days!

Anybody in the mood for more organ sounds? I believe I am!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm

Don Pullen on organ!
  Swag For Life Member 6:25pm
WR:

Didn't know Pullen recorded on organ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm
doctorjazz:

Saw him not too long ago in a bangs with his son on guitar, if I remember correctly.

Cool, listened to McGriff & Earland recently and was looking next for Jimmy Smith.

Nice to hear something recent from Arto Lindsay...Saw him way back with DNA.
Avatar 6:54pm
Jeff Moore:

Remember when Arto Lindsay performed at the station (for Duane's show, I think)? Sometimes his guitar sounded like rocks crushing rocks. It was great.

And he had that pretty bright blue Danelectro.
  Swag For Life Member 6:59pm
WR:

Enjoyed the show. Jeff, I look forward to your next bi-annual fill-in. Doctorjazz, until the next time. Cheers.

Thanks, @WR!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm

Thanks, Jeff, great show! Catch you around, WR! Happy New Year!
Avatar 7:05pm
huomenta:

For many many years I thought Mr. Lindsay had Finnish roots because of "Arto" (common Finnish first name), silly silly me. He was very enjoyable live too, softly sung brazilian portuguese lyrics accompanied by the infernal racket he made with his guitar
  7:05pm
JakeGould:

5 minutes late. Kudos nonetheless, Jeff!
  Swag For Life Member 7:06pm

Yes, noted, you're doing a double fill-in, but I gotta step out. Happy New Year to any I don't bump into in the chat before 2020.

huomenta:

Thanks Jeff, happy new decade and what a pity this show ended so early (thought it would go on until the said 8pm)
Avatar 4:15pm
Jeff Moore:

Sorry for the unmatched expectations, @houmenta – when I got music collected for this exercise and realized my natural stopping place might be a little past the two-hour mark allocated for Gina's show, I asked Doug if the next block had been claimed for a fill-in so I'd have to keep it tight, or if I could slop over a bit. He said slop away, and he added an additional full hour for the shift in the scheduling system (because that's the way that system works most naturally).

But this was put together to be about a two-hour show (plus a little because the hard end constraint went away).
