speaking of falling asleep to music, the first time I heard White Chalk by PJ Harvey I fell lightly asleep (like I heard all the songs through my dream) and it is the one that has made the strongest impression on me of her albums, probably due to that experience. She also said she tried to achieve certain atmospheres while recording/composing that album by depriving herself of sleep, or something to that effect (I might remember this incorrectly) so maybe that is why the dreamy state of listening was the best

my favourite from this album, even if I am not so familiar with what Nick Cave has been doing for the last 25 years- The two newest albums are demanding in a good way.
  Swag For Life Member 8:19pm

That song convinced me that I need to listen to more Nick Cave. Long have known about him but haven't done any methodical listening, just random tunes heard randomly.
  Swag For Life Member 8:20pm

That song plus Amanda Palmer keeps referencing him and his work.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:22pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Feel that Style & Substance are in some kind of conflict w/ Cave - even tho he's smarter than most by far as to what Substance is... Artists often on top when really feeling something to express... Like - love him but get tired of being dragged thru some sensationalist Crime novel or something...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:25pm

Was just talking to my wife and reading about Nick Drake. His death clouds so many people's approach to his music. I got the first two albums not long after they came out remember being disappointed that the US release was comp of the first two. When Pink Moon came out my music friends split between those missing the lush accompaniment and those loving the sparse but tightly bound voice and guitar.
