3 musical events I'll never forget:
1. August 5: Because I retired from my work on August 1, my colleagues had arranged that I could do a radio show of one hour on 40upradio: 40upradio.nl...
2. September 25:
September 22 there was a very impressive article in my newspaper about Philip Kroonenberg, a Dutch singer songwriter who has made a complete album about the cancer of his wife (she survived). I searched for gigs and there still were tickets for the premiere of the album the following day! It was a concert I will never forget. For me it’s the album of the year and for the first time in my life I wrote a review that was published in Platenblad.
3. November 2:
"Arthur (or the rise and fall of the British empire)” should have been a radio play in 1969 by Ray Davies of the Kinks. That radio play never happened in 1969, but the songs were released on an excellent Kinks-LP with the same name.
50 years later the (new) radio play was broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
I was stuck to the radio for 75 minutes. Beautiful.

@WR: When I was a kid, my mom was briefly married to a guy who didn't believe in hot water, so it was cold showers every morning. It was a nice house, he was financially ok, just a quirk of his. It was in Honduras, so it wasn't horrible in terms of temperature, but it was still a drag. I'm in NOLA now, plenty of hot water, but no heat in an old Marigny apartment with 14-foot ceilings, so it gets chilly at night this time of year.

Mariano, I saw a Kubrick exhibition at LACMA many years ago. I'm not sure how many. If it's the same one you saw, it is stunning, representing a completely new direction museums can merge film into their exhibitions. If it is the same one, it's been traveling for awhile.

Cocteau's fingerprints are all over that film though . . You should definitely try Bergson again . . I tell people that CE is a bridge from Darwin to Einstein . While he wrote about relativity through the veins of the humanities . Bergson had actual live debates with Einstein in how to explain Relativity. The book is alive . . It brings mind to itself.
