	7:18pm TDK60: Gary, hard to say. One can hear stuff on Jeffrey Davison's Sat. morn ambient-into-folk show. I would also include neo-psychedelia, and it's been around more than a decade. One folk-meets-electronica act I like is Juana Molina.

I've been reading them all, and found it interesting that, for instance, no grime appeared on any American lists, but did on NME's. There's still some rationality, even within the confines of what I tend to (probably unfairly) think of homogeneity central

	7:27pm ParUbi: I moved to a place a couple of blocks away from a huge used record store, so the other biggest thing for me musically would be discovering new worlds for $5 a pop at that store.

	🇰🇷 7:28pm WR: I've learned that the music that excites me the most is something I've never heard before that has some combination of known and unknown that it somehow triggers exhilaration. And since I've been regular listener of WFMU for the last 9 months that happens a few times a week. I just wish I had time to consolidate, need to start a list to keep track.

	7:31pm TDK60: I sometimes listen to end-of-year best-if shows and know none of it. That's how I hear about it. Like I said I'm older. Does one maybe cross a threshold of non-awareness at a certain age? Or is that too stereotypical?
	7:32pm Gary: It reminds me of this admittedly stupid but heartfelt anti-tech tweet I wrote but didn't post, something like: Hey I got this great idea of how to disrupt all of the shitty rip-off streaming and youtube and other online "services" ... what if we were to create a space ... like, a physical space ... where a person could go and ... find music there that they would purchase in various "music-retaining-containers" of one kind or another? And position these spaces here and there throughout the country ... so that every person could easily get to one or more of them ...

	7:33pm ParUbi: The stereotypical thing is for your brain to lock down the taste in music you had in your late adolescence/early twenties for the rest of your life.

	7:33pm Gary: @WR, if you "favorite" tracks by clicking the star next to them, you can go back later and look at your favorites and do some in-between-show exploring
	7:34pm LambdaCalculus: I think I still listen to about 8% of the music I used to enjoy as a teenager.
	🇰🇷 7:34pm WR: Funny the previous track had some The Who in the start and this one starts in a way that it made me think of George Harrison wah wah. And then, of course they take it to new places.
	7:35pm Gary: I still listen to the Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks and Raincoats Oddyshape and Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet and that's about it from my past
	7:35pm northguineahills: WFMU and the Wire keeps me up to date w/ music. Luckily, my brain has never locked out new music (except most American contemporary top 40)
	7:36pm Gary: That said, there's a lot from the period when I was coming of age that I wasn't exposed to for one reason or another and I love discovering that stuff
	7:36pm ParUbi: @TDK60-- If you're still discovering new (or new for you) stuff, that means you're still growing musically and "with" the only "it" that matters

	7:37pm TDK60: I still isten to older music. (I grew up in the '60s-'70s.) Maybe about 30% of my listening is old stuff. I try to hear new stuff, via alternative outlets like here. I also get a many CDs out of the public library.
	7:38pm hyde: i love a lot of stuff i listened to as a teenager and plenty of other stuff i found later on
	7:38pm northguineahills: I pretty much listen to everything I started to listen to at age 16 onwards, that's when I discovered music for the genesis of my foundational aesthetics which still guide me to this day, albeit w/ some epistemological morphological shifts....
	7:39pm northguineahills: Of course, I say, "I listen to every genre, from every geography and culture, from every temporal period."
	7:40pm TDK60: Been recently listening to '60s-70s English folk-rock that I've long liked: Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention, Incredible String Band, that sort.

	7:45pm TDK60: ..was at an open-mike recently, it was mostly very young adults. A lot sounded like a mix of hip-hop, R&B and electronica, interesting mix. But I'm really outta the loop.

	7:48pm TDK60: Gary, FC albums? I say the first 4 albums, from way back then, are essential. But they have a lot of LPs, and still play.
	7:48pm melinda: @TDK do you know the compilation Dust on the Nettles: A Journey Through The British Underground Folk Scene 1967-1972? i heard it here first a few years ago and it's a great 3-cd set. Also one of the best collection names.

But he heard me playing MC Hammer's "you got to pray just to make it today", and he liked it, so when he went off to Desert Storm (I was 14), I gave him the cassette, and he now can enjoy G-rated friendly hiphop

	8:15pm Franco Twinkie: Funny you should say that, TDK60. We always use an ironing board covered with foil when we make tamales. Although we have lots of counter space in the kitchen, the ironing board is where the tamales are stacked before we count and bag them.

	7:32pm Gary: It reminds me of this admittedly stupid but heartfelt anti-tech tweet I wrote but didn't post, something like: Hey I got this great idea of how to disrupt all of the shitty rip-off streaming and youtube and other online "services" ... what if we were to create a space ... like, a physical space ... where a person could go and ... find music there that they would purchase in various "music-retaining-containers" of one kind or another? And position these spaces here and there throughout the country ... so that every person could easily get to one or more of them ...

	7:37pm TDK60: I still isten to older music. (I grew up in the '60s-'70s.) Maybe about 30% of my listening is old stuff. I try to hear new stuff, via alternative outlets like here. I also get a many CDs out of the public library.
