Manana sadly true. there's also this me first attitude that makes many drivers assholes to each-other; but this recklessness seems to obscure in many drivers the fact that they could easily kill someone on a bicycle, when probably only 5-10 % of people would actually be okay with that.

In any case... cars are two ton death machines... not saying you can’t get hurt being hit by a bike(I have) but it’s just not the same at all in my book and as far as safety... yea it can be dangerous biking but who’s fault is that really the biker or the driver going to fast in a 2 ton vehicle... I say 80% of the time it’s the driver’s fault

doesn't matter what laws you break. bicycle mishaps that injure anyone besides the cyclist are infinitely rare compared to motor vehicle mishaps that injure others.

Spondoofus I’m talking about running a red when it’s the middle of the night and there’s nobody around on a flat... not speeding down a sf hill on a fixed gear and blowing through without stopping. As I said I’ve been hit by a bike before I understand that it can be dangerous but still way more people are killed by cars, and there are tons of drivers out there who are not at all prepared to share the road. Unless you’re on an interstate you should be prepared to share the road with bikes period.

And going the wrong way on one-way streets, then complaining about the behavior of the drivers on those same streets. It's a bit like being drunk behind the wheel then calling the cops on another driver for reckless driving.

i've been riding a bicycle for 50-something years -since before there were bike lanes, helmet laws...i don't stop for intersections unless i have to -for safety's sake and courtesy. i ride on the left side sometimes, because it's sometimes the smart thing to do. i practically never wear a helmet on the streets (i wear one mountain biking) i hop up to the sidewalk when asshole drivers have left me no room to get by on the street, but i get back on the street after i've gotten past them.
and i do not have a chip on my shoulder! not even slightly. i've driven almost a million &1/2 miles in my life. cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles. i see it from many perspectives.i'm just efficient, and i have fun.
i've never hit a person, bike, car, animal...
