Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
@Joe! I just ate some rare whole-milk Emmentaler with lunch today. Not exactly the same region, but close. I hope you ate a huge stack o' cheese while in Appenzell. Mmm!
haha, too funny Gaylord! Yes Wendy the Apenzeller cheese was served up in may different ways - with "rosti" potatoes, a rustic strata sort of dish, and of course fondue. wish it was available around here but Emmenthaler sounds pretty awesome!
@Cheri the Duf: When Frankenstein throws Maria into the lake thinking she’ll float like flowers in the original Frankenstein? That is one of the most inadvertently funny scenes ever. www.youtube.com...
@Joe: I've had rosti here, and raclette (not just the cheese, but the melted cheese on the rosti), but pretty much only at cheese industry events. Still, you CAN try this at home! If you have a toaster oven, you can do it.
i bought some paintings from a guy on the sidewalk in chelsea (ny) who went by the name of moon (i don't remember his first name. this was the 90s) and all his paintings were self-portraits, of sorts, and they all had a moon in them somewhere.
I just stepped outside to look at the Hunter's Moon, now I'm sipping peppermint tea and listening to Gaylord's always fab show. Such a nice way to wind down Sunday...
I normally like candy corn, but saw a woman last week eating them out of a Ziplock bag (presumably) for breakfast while on the subway and I dunno anymore.

Well, I hadn't heard The City before and I'm very glad I have heard them now. That was great.

Greetings from a Joshua Tree evening, making pasta.
But another part of me enjoys misappropriation... Also it would be pretty difficult to insert actual traditional Japanese music in that Buck Owens number
Good evening, Gaylord and community. We're lucky it's not named the Hunter's Moon Brought to You by AT&T.

Gaylord...only those awake...appreciative...acquuainted...could play Andy Williams...was listening to Ms. Longet recently...many incredible musical birthdays today Oct 13...thanks for your beautiful karma Pharoah Sanders...

one good thing about candy corn is they melt in your mouth if you suck on them long enough when you have your teeth out!!! hehehe...

Her Love is Blue, perhaps (or not) having to do with Spider Sabich.
Gaylord...we lost the great John Giorno this past week...I know you appreciated him immensely...I'm writing a short story influenced by him ..at this moment...what a beautiful life...
CC, I just saw a cupcake with an eyeball stuck in the frosting at The Super A. I was tempted, but passed. We're still more that two weeks away. There will be plenty of opportunities to gum up my teeth with sugary crap.
I remember when I was a sophomore we were dissecting crawdads and a girl came up and she said do you know what this is?..and I said it's an eyeball and she said oh you do?!? hehehe...
I just brought a roll of Jubilee paper towels inside and Chresti just looked at me and started cackling knowingly and said "That's a real jack shit brand" how did she know I only paid 99 cents for them, womans intuition?
Does “Jubilee” sound like a quality national brand? I be it’s a west coast equivalent of “White Rose” or “Krasdale”… And I like off-brands! But cheap paper towels are cheap paper towels.
