A shimmering radiance from the mail slot

Coats the walls in gold
"Honey, did we get that thing I needed from Amazon?"
Gold pours up from the floor over my shoes
up my torso and into my mouth.
She walks through the kitchen heading towards the hall...

Robert Tilton did a lot of the same stuff.
Got a ton of his swag in the '80s. Prayer fabric that he touched, posters with places for your feet (where Tilton stood)... was a total addict of his show. Every episode was a hyperactive telethon of cashflow.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
Bas NL:

We need an WFMU pray mat in the swag store..
Avatar 3:36pm
Ike:

That guy and Ike Turner (despite his talent) are on the bottom rung of what we Ikes call the Totem of Ikehood, where they get spiritually trampled for 10,000 years by every cat and dog and gecko named Ike.
Avatar 👻 3:37pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

The speaking-in-tongues was a bonus.
His road-show came to DC and I tried like hell to get on stage for a faith-healing, but his suited cronies were masters of "selective crowd control."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
SSS:

Simple times, Rev Ike's approach. So homey on TV. Imagine him now, with interboob reach?
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
chresti:

We got an outline of a hand on a golden piece of felt, after sending Rev. Ike one dollar
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm
steveo:

That's it. They get trampled for an eternity by every cat and dog and gecko named Ike, forever. There's a statue in L.A. dedicated to them — but no Ike. They make no appearances in Chicago's parks. Nothing. We call this the Curse of Ike.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm
steveo:

And the curse gets worse when you're a cat who can't remember your name and you need a new one from Ike. A new Ike. I know. You don't know. He's in the treehouse with the cat, and he'll ask you to choose.
  3:39pm
Xangoir:

Tuned in and tuned off
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm
steveo:

Now, as bad news, in L.A. you could take your cat in the city without a problem; Ike makes a special trip over just to hang out with the cats and dogs, and your cat will grow up on her own in peace and harmony. But Ike doesn't show up to hang out with anyone, so it's difficult to get him.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm

There are people who believe that since it is inevitable that humans will eventually learn to completely represent our minds inside a complex computer, the most likely reality is that we all already only exist inside a computer.
Avatar 👻 4:24pm

@stevo: aspects of that were covered in a memorable Infinite Monkey Cage a while back (the only podcast i'll acknowledge). Brain-scrambling good.
