@chris - I can’t take the summers out here anymore either, at least for more than a week at a time. I don’t mind it as long as there is a way of keeping cool during the day. At night it cools down nicely to the 60s, which is great. But how was it possible that I rode my bike around in 98 degree heat all summer as a kid without dying repeatedly?

Just my personal opinion, but I keep hearing how computers and cell phones ruined summer for tweens and teens (at least compared to the ones we fondly remember), but I think the real culprit is air conditioning

I think that's not the full story, Rev. As I understand it, another label wanted to sign the Beatles after they had recorded under contract for Kaempfert as Tony Sheridan's backing band. BK made certain Sheridan's label would not interfere with the Beatles being signed away. So he did them a huge favor.
