Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from August 2, 2019 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

I love these springy, echoey recordings.
Avatar 12:46pm
sphere:

we're still getting Bertoia even after that 11CD monolith. wow.
Avatar 12:48pm
Bryce:

yep! if i'm recalling correctly, i think the money they raised for the original box went the purchase of a really nice reel-to-reel transfer setup. i do believe there are loads and loads of tapes.

these transfers sound great too. nicer than the original records for sure!
Avatar 12:49pm
Bryce:

though not as nice as actually being in The Barn and dragging your fingers over thousands of rods everywhere. that. is pleasant.

This is epic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm

Nice to come back from a meeting and hear Bertoia!
Avatar 1:00pm

why do meetings and bertoia have to be two separate things?
Avatar 1:01pm

just bring a bluetooth speaker with you! people will adjust
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm

that is an attitude i can endorse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm

I'm going to write our current president to see if he can issue an executive order to cancel all meetings that interfere with Bryce's show. He seems like a kind of guy who does not like meetings.

I have an idea for a dramatic series about an ancient society dealing with intrigue and suspense with an atonal soundtrack. I shall call it Game of Drones.

I got pullled into this meeting at the last minute, no time to grab the Bluetooth speaker :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
Kat in Chicago:

I did play Pulse Emitter on a Bluetooth speaker during a "team building exercise" once.
Avatar 1:13pm
Bryce:

lmaooo you guys
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
steveo:

check your speakerphone, the best models also have bluetooth built in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Cochlear implants with built-in Bluetooth would really widen the WFMU listening audience.
Avatar 1:35pm
Bryce:

which would also make them hackable
Avatar 1:35pm
Bryce:

and that would definitely widen the fmu audience. (if i were within 30 foot radius anyway)
Avatar 1:36pm
sphere:

I think some hearing aids are already using Bluetooth.
Avatar 1:39pm
Ike:

Bryce, you can't fool us. That wasn't a record. You were just playing the sound of you unhinging your jaw and drooling all over your prey (a poor, defenseless eggplant parm).
Avatar 1:42pm
Bryce:

i can't lie; i just stuck my tongue in an xlr jack and rubbed a balloon on my arm hair
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
Michael 98145:

@sphere, yes! i have watched folks adjust their hearing via their phone app
Avatar 1:44pm
Carmichael:

I've already had 2 meetings. But a guy in an adjacent office has a Ken Nordine album on his desk, so I told him about FMU. He's listening now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm

does meeting someone count as a meeting?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm

We have a Bertoia in downtown Chicago. Olivia Block did a lovely work in Millennium Park based on it a few years ago www.chicagoreader.com...
Avatar 2:05pm

@coel, I think that's a "meet up" ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm

"Dresden"? I have a bad feeling about what's going to be happening here. (finally came up with a fresh variant on my dum username concept -- so damned obvious)
  2:17pm
fkerm:

It's not the sounds that were recorded that are strange...it's the fact that someone remembered to hit Rec. that really makes you think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
Kat in Chicago:

Later, y'all. This is rad but I have an important meeting with a sandwich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
coelacanth∅:

weird. talking about the huge barn before instantly reminded me of "bluebeard" by Vonnegut, which also references dresden (& reminds me of slaughterhouse 5, and therefore dresden)
  2:23pm

!!!! Suddenly fkerm makes me realize that the record button is the only thing that makes universal existence worthwhile!

27 clicky-stars! Come on people, just 170 clicky-stars more to catch up with the sack of shit Don Felder "song" that Matt plays every Tuesday morning! (Of course this track is clearly superior already, as it has been played 16 known times, for a click-per-play average of 1.69, vs. 0.88 clicks per play for Don Felder's vomitorious cornball schlong-fest.)
