Thankfully, no rain, and only 91F/33C here. So, I can get more boxes recycling dumpster diving, and moving everything around. Yesterday, I got a flat, so, I spent the last of my money on a tire. (and wasted a day)

I have a little history with "Will You Miss Me". Larry Polansky composed a microtonal version of it that was the first thing I played with the American Festival of Microtonal Music in 1985. (Yes, on microtonal autoharp).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
chresti:

In 1985, I was not aware of microtonal music.
Avatar 7:43pm

I believe it was 95-96 when I found microtonal music....

A friend of ours lives outside of Casitas Springs. The towns claim to fame is Johnny Cash once lived there. Local legend is one Christmas Johnny got up on his roof drunk out of his mind with his electric guitar and sang Christmas carols til the cops came and dragged him away.

Chresti and I saw Etta James 20 years ago I believe on this very date, on an equally miserably hot day.

My favorite summer nights were going warehouse/parties w/o A/C w/ the temps in the 100s, fun but exhausting (as long as you kept hydrated).

franco, that's awesome!

I might be afraid to go out with John, too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm

That sounds risky, ngh
Avatar 8:33pm

going out with jc or jlh would be well worth the risk, even if it meant going to raves in 100 degree heat.

@chresti: it happened in NYC many times, for noise/rock/rave shows, and a few in FL in my youth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
Franco Twinkie:

Oops! It was Koko Iaylor, not Etta James. And it was 19 years ago today, but it was hot as hell. That I do remember correctly.
Avatar 8:40pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

f-twink, i'm somehow impressed that you remember the date but not the year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
Franco Twinkie:

NGH, I saw The Grateful Dead at the Hollywood Palladium in 1971 on a day that was 106 degrees outside. I was sixteen, so I thought it was fun. Today my concept of fun is slightly different.
Avatar 8:49pm
northguineahills:

@franco: most parties had artist installations and many involved water, or spray areas, and chill out rooms (small inflatable domes [where I djed] ambient music) w/ an A/C. I was single at the time, so wet barely clothed women helped as well. (1994-2007)

Koko Taylor and Buddy Guy were staples of B.B. King's summer blues festival tours. I feel lucky to have seen 4 or 5 of those. Buddy always waded into the crowd and played away
