@Phillippe - yes! Anchorage is actually very cool. For food I'd recommend Snow City Cafe for breakfasts, Pho Lena (the best veggie pho I've ever had), Moose Tooth Pizza and Pub, and Orso for dinner. The Anchorage Museum was quite good with a progressive look at Alaska's history plus great Native art. The great outdoors is spectacular in Alaska so you can't go wrong anywhere.
