I had a record nerd tell me once the machines that press vinyl take a long time to heat up, So larger pressings, like major label runs, the first 500 or so would sound bad, but the rest would be great. So smaller pressings now, you're basically getting that first 500 bad pressing sound.

BH:

My experience looking around TuneIn for stations out of my market would indicate that there is a lot of 'the same' out there, but also obviously there's a gap that doesn't get covered by anything else in areas that are on the fringes of a media market (especially geographically large markets). So, somebody has to cover when there's an event at a local library or a HS sports score in a city that only gets mentioned on TV during severe weather and doesn't have a daily paper.

there's probably a few two-person bands out there that never get called duos because maybe that label isn't in style right now? at the risk of making you ponder the question of "Were the White Stripes technically a duo because Meg occasionally got to sing?"
Avatar 5:32pm
tneeld:

@BH - Low would probably fit into that, and they're still pretty active.

Sure way to get a DJ to play your request...wait until the DJ is ready to cue the next record, interrupt them and set your drink by the decks or records while you talk. Works every time.
