Heya Mark. Love the Lord.

for years i thought screaming lord such was a band called "screaming lord such loony party", because my introduction was Paul Cavenaugh's show in the early 80s and he liked to totally fuck with the back-announcing.
  12:13am
Carmichael:

Sutch ran for office in the UK as a member of the Loony Party.

This is beautiful.

Nice tunes. Gotta sleep now, will check whole show in the archive. Cheers.

thanks for tuning in, nostrangerer. Sweet dreams.

Joel was formerly here. I’m used to made-up disco dance moves.

coelacanth∅:

oh that's right, Carm. i did read that maybe 2-3 years ago.
...i still have the cassette (as i still have most of the tapes i made of the radio, ever) and the way the song was announced (it was actually a female friend Paul had hanging around in the studio talking) was, in a monotone, run-on way - "that-was-screaming-lord-sutch-loony-party-murder-in-the-graveyard"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am
coelacanth∅:

i was chewing does that count?
  12:32am

Chewing does NOT count, and you know damn well it doesn't. Don't make me come down there!

I was stationed in Tucson in the late 70s, and loved the music scene. Chuck Wagon and the Wheels, and Tumbleweedz. Guess it’s still rockin’.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am
coelacanth∅:

well if you *do* come down here you can have some guacamole
  12:37am
Carmichael:

Meek was a homosexual back when it was against the law, and a maverick producer when the studio engineers wore white lab coats. He careened through life until it finally consumed him. A great loss.
  12:40am
Mark R:

Oh man, now I might have to really come down there, Coel--you have tortilla chips, I presume. Or do I have to pick some up on the way?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am
coelacanth∅:

i do have chips Mark; and 1/2 decent organic salsa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am
coelacanth∅:

("1/2 decent" being a compliment for store-bought salsa)
  12:46am
Mark R:

Oh, damn, now my stomach is growling. I wonder if the mic will pick that up on the air. I've got another couple hours to go...any chance you can get down here? 43 Montgomery Street. I'll buzz you in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am
coelacanth∅:

i've had a few drinks and rode my bicycle home, but it's only about 90 miles -shouldn't take too long...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am

( -mostly downhill)
  12:51am
Carmichael:

We are on avocado overload out here. Would someone please eat all of them?!?
  12:51am
Mark R:

Oh, forget it--enjoy the show. I've actually got some chips waiting for me at home--the guac is what got my mouth watering, though. Oh, well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am
coelacanth∅:

well, if it makes it any better - it's not my best guacamole
  12:54am
Mark R:

What was the issue--too lemony?
  12:55am
Mark R:

OK this Sarah Vaughan album was from my mom and dad's collection--they obviously listened to it a lot--hence the authentic crackle.
  12:56am
Carmichael:

Coel, you should be loaded down there. I find them on the highway off ramps, attrition.
  12:57am
choggie:

my guac ingredients: advocado, tomatoes, garlic(fresh)! cilantro, onions, sour cream, lemon and lime juice (fresh)! salt, pepper
  12:59am
BEAVO:

So back to the day jobs now.
  1:01am
Mark R:

Didn't care for them, Bravo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am
coelacanth∅:

mine: haas avocado, onion, garlic, cilantro, parsley, lemon juice (all fresh, raw) and salt, cayenne powder.
today i discovered rotten cilantro AND rotten parsley so, none of either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am
coelacanth∅:

(sometimes i use pickled jalapeno instead of cayenne powder)
  1:05am
Carmichael:

My 2 ingredients: mortar and pestle. All else is arbitrary.
  1:05am
yippie:

I just polkaed my brains out
  1:05am
Mark R:

Oh I see. Yeah those are important. Seriously, this conversation is making me very hungry right now. If we were a REAL radio station, we'd have a vending machine and I'd buy some pork rinds.
  1:05am
rw:

Loved the authentic crackle in the Vaughn. Also, nothing beats a Saturday night downhill bicycle ride.

I feel like you guys put too many ingredients in your guac. Isn't it just avocado, tomato, Tabasco, lemon and salt?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am
coelacanth∅:

i might experiment with that sour creme idea though, choggie
  1:06am
rw:

Oh, and onion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am
coelacanth∅:

that's not much less rw!
  1:08am
rw:

Yeah Coel, I guess you're right. Cilantro sounds good too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08am
coelacanth∅:

Mark you're at the station? and there's really nothing to eat?
...i'll shut up about it then.
  1:09am
rw:

Someone should open a 24 hr. pizza store next to FMU so the listeners can order delivery for their favorite DJs.
  1:09am
markr:

I don't think so.
  1:10am
markr:

there's a 24 hour restaurant on the corner, it's OK. Mostly good for breakfast stuff.
  1:11am
rw:

They deliver?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am
coelacanth∅:

you could put on a 20-minute track and get something to hold you over
  1:13am
rw:

I'm still thinking about that Saturday midnight bike ride...
  1:14am
Carmichael:

In a gadda da vida, run to the corner.
  1:15am
Carmichael:

This will do for my Joel disco dancing.
  1:15am
markr:

Appreciate the thoughts, I don't have anything quite that long planned tonight, I'll be fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16am
coelacanth∅:

i really enjoyed my ride home tonight. and now it's raining, so my timing was good.
  1:17am
Carmichael:

Coel, it’s raining there?
  1:17am
rw:

Blinking tail light or two and a bit of reflective something?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am
coelacanth∅:

just started raining.

rw i actually have no lights, no reflectors, a dark blue mountain bike and i'm wearing army-green shorts and a grey wfmu t.
- i've made it this far...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22am
coelacanth∅:

(sputnik t)
  1:23am
markr:

That's very dangerous. We need all the listeners we can get, please get some reflectors and wear light clothing at night. I was up very early this morning, before it got light, and some nut was jogging IN THE STREET with a dark sweatshirt and long dark sweatpants, just begging to get killed.
  1:26am
rw:

I also bike sometimes without lights, etc. You have to keep on your toes that way. My least favorite time to ride is just before dusk when the sun is in drivers' eyes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am
coelacanth∅:

yeah sometimes when i'm driving i see those nuts and i want to (occasionally do) tell them how invisible they are, because it seems they don't know.
but i do know.
Avatar 1:27am
Scraps:

Cilantro tastes like soap. SOAP.
  1:29am
rw:

Cilantro tastes like magic. Though I hear to many it's kinda soapy.

And I guess I mean just before sunset, not dusk.
  1:32am
markr:

I also agree about cilantro. You can be on your toes all you want, rw, it's the drivers who aren't, and being invisible doesn't help. But when you're flying around heaven, you can tell everyone you were RIGHT.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am
coelacanth∅:

i almost never see bicyclists at that time,rw. (i almost never see myself up and out at that time also) but driving a car or motorcycle can be crazy at that time on the main street from where i go out to drink to the town i reside in, sun squarely in eyes the whole way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am
coelacanth∅:

...oh, just after sunrise, i mean.
Avatar 1:39am
Undead83:

What a nice show, makes saturdays nights even brighter
  1:40am
rw:

markr, you're right. About the lights, I mean. I've got a handful of lights in my garage and normally try to keep one or two on me but occasionally end up in the dark without them. Keeping on your toes is important whether you're lit up or not. I'm not sure who's side you're on with the cilantro though. Soap or magic?
  1:43am
markr:

Magic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am
coelacanth∅:

when i was a child bicycles just had 1 reflector under the seat, facing behind, no lights. i've been riding a bicycle for my whole life never had a light. i'm not sure if i just don't think about it or if i have faith in fate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am
coelacanth∅:

cilantro is not soap nor magic to me. if i had to choose either cilantro or parsley for guacamole i'd choose parsley, which i love in general; but having both in guac is excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59am
coelacanth∅:

that's a danish name right?
  2:03am
rw:

coel, when you were a kid you probably just rode on the sidewalk. I have faith in you but a bit of reflective tape or something on your backpack wouldn't hurt. No reflectors on your pedals? I guess with a mtn bike you might not. I put parsley in potato salad, which I also keep pretty simple. I need to plant some parsley in the yard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03am
coelacanth∅:

The Comet Is Coming! Excellent!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06am
coelacanth∅:

parsley is a serious superfood!
  2:07am
rw:

Oh, and markr, I had heard from a reliable source that the Claypool Lennon project is good but Primus tastes like soap. SOAP. to me so I still wasn't sure and was even afraid to check it out. Sounded good though! I'm going to delve more deeply...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11am
coelacanth∅:

and i've known people who seemed to really hate soap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12am
coelacanth∅:

if i had to choose between primus and Lennon i'd choose Lennon; but the combination is excellent.
Avatar 2:15am
Scraps:

I like Primus, but I could easily see it tasting like soap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18am

okay, sleep attempt imminent.
Thanks Mark! the combination was excellent!
take care y'all
and don't forget to reflect.

Later coel. Sleep safely!
  2:19am
markr:

See ya, Coel, thanks for tuning in.
  2:47am
rw:

I'm just about out too. Thanks for filling in tonight Mark R! Got a little work done and discovered some new music too! Perfect. Take care everyone and have a good Sunday! Oh. Fathers Day too! For those of us who are or who have dads.
  2:50am

Thanks for joining us, rw--yes, Happy Fathers Day, dads!
