Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from March 29, 2019 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

This definatly gives credence (but not proof) to the argument that some have that Jack may have been a bit more responsible for the wall of sound then Phil was. That although Phil came up with idea it was Jack's hands that made it possible.

I dug up that Patti Page because I remembered something about Blau's translation work in his book on JBIAAWALIP. I was suprprised to find a different translation out there!
But Scott did great work with the Shuman translations of Brel, which are good and also often adaptations of Brel's original metaphors. "Marathon", for example for Les Flamandes.
