Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
Gene Clark hitting the nail on the head. Makes me think of the lyric from Train Leaves Here This Morning...1320 North Columbus was the address that I wrote down on my sleeve
@John from Florham Park: Paul's ability to use the same seven notes that everyone has access to and come up with melodies like that one is otherworldly. He truly illustrates the saying about music being the spaces between the notes.
That BJ thomas track was one of those charting hits that sort of got lost over the years. I remember it being very popular in the NYC area when i was a young'un.
