Oh man. Afterhours for sure. This track is blowing my mind.

I'd like to sneak this mix into the country club stereo, behind the bar, heh-heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm

TDK, my kid worked in an area comic book store for nine years, and for nine years, I tried to convince them to put on FMU in the store. But noooo, classic rock was all the owner wanted to know.

JayD:

I would’ve plotzed hearing this set in 1987, when I was 15. Loving it now, too!
Avatar 9:28pm
TDK60:

Parq, I understand your frustration: they wanted to hear Foreigner a lot. (They, not realizing that Little Richard or Chuck Berry is really "classic" rock, but I digress.) My idea above is more a dream of a cultural-guerrilla intervention scenario.

I would like to record people playing tennis while the coyotes are howling and then play a loop on the pa system (I work at tennis courts that are in a park where coyotes reside)

That Damn glitch in the IOS app!
It cuts comments off if they contain an ampersand... So I was trying to write:
"This is all good. N[ampersand]S fits in Daniel's space real comfy-like." or words to that effect...
Next time I'll just type out Noise and Syrup. Or Noise 'n' Syrup...

I use canned air to clean my cd player. Along with hitting it with a screwdriver, when it won't play a cd
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
coelacanth∅:

i'd probably never've cleaned the inside of my cd player but i've had to remove the shell twice because a cd became lodged in the guts of it; so i blew it out with canned air then.

well, there was a recall kinda about it and I'm just the man not to do anything about it even though I had the issue. It can just be randomly selective is all sometimes

sorry to hear about your tooth, chresti. what are ya gonna do, just wait?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm

My cd player is in a space that's dusty with a crumbling ceiling. Covering it helps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm
coelacanth∅:

my camera had a recall. i didn't trust it - just sending my most valuable possession away for someone to fiddle with it or possibly for it to disappear. it had no ill symptoms so i never sent it.
a few years passed - then a little over a year ago it was stolen. i hope it started acting up.

@coelacanthø, Pandemonium is his classic. Fcking scary when I was twenty, especially on acid. Um. Anyway, at least two of the pieces of Pandemonium are on youtube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm
coelacanth∅:

trout mask replica's noisy for sure. but i guess i was thinking of noise like the nurse with wound that was playing -like, non-rhythmic, non-melodic...by most people's estimation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm

Folsom how did i miss that testify?!

I like musique concrete, I've only recently, (maybe 9 or 10 years ago ), started exploring it-I would hear it on KXLU,,and then compoundeye.org
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm
coelacanth∅:

Scraps, an acquaintance once asked me what i do and i said just a bunch of noise; he got all excited and said "you do harsh noise?!" i didn't know then but some people who like harsh noise (ie most Merzbow; maybe yellow swans; Kevin Dunn; etc) wont call anything else "noise"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Folsom:

@coelacanth0 Yes that is a good show. I listen to Larry Grogan's show funky16corners and he said he was on WFMU, that was a big shock.

@coel: I'd describe that as power electronics, to me, everything is noise....

Yes, and that noise I mostly don’t care for (Merzbow, etc)
Avatar 11:23pm
northguineahills:

oH, i heart Masami Akita et al, it can be therapeautic sometime, and when done right, it can be "musical" as well...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
coelacanth∅:

Merzbow can be a little rough! he's done some less harsh stuff too though. his collaboration with boris ("sun baked snow cave") is beautiful.
Avatar 11:27pm
northguineahills:

I still want that Merzbow cd in an edition of one he released around '99 in China where the jewel case was an actual new Mercedes (cd was in the cd player).
Avatar 11:29pm

I haven’t heard that ... I dislike most things that fall into Drone, though

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm

ngh - to me everything is music! (except most of what most people listen to, which i call shit!)
i like to refer to my 1932 dictionary to see actual definitions before the perversion of ignorance and laziness makes incorrect definitions acceptable as correct, and it's 2nd or 3rd definition of music is something like " any sound or group of sounds that is pleasing".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm
coelacanth∅:

Scraps, maybe you wouldn't like it; but i wouldn't call it drone. it's just extremely quiet and slow for a long time then gradually builds up. (it's a single hour or so long piece)
-it's pretty melancholy. maybe that's why i like it.
Avatar 11:35pm
Scraps:

I do like melancholy.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm
coelacanth∅:

(i'm kidding about my "shit" comment by the way! contrived and shallow, maybe; but it's still music)

I'm really encouraged to see that N&S (Jeff M.) has played Ingenting Kollektiva from time to time. I love Matthew's work. Used to live nearby, until he moved to Portland, and then Brooklyn, because he couldn't afford to live in ... Berkeley or Portland.
