Morphe brought up IRA, and there's a thing called Roth IRA, so that reminded me I never read anything by Philip Roth, who died recently. I browsed a couple of books but put them back. Should I give his writing a try?

@geezerette: I don't think so (hard to say for sure, the basement is even more crowded). But there's coffee, tea, and maple syrup to be found hidden between the piles (it's a Canadian bookshop)

I love Paris. :) So beautiful and the people are wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm
fred:

@geezerette: That's so puzzling to me: it's so boringly gray to me. And the people are so casually hostile. Then again, I was born there, but never could afford to live there. We should meet next time you go there, maybe meet at that bookshop

To echo Mr. Sin's thought, both this and last night's show were/are terrific. Thank you, Ira! I know you've got a band and a life and everything, but that doesn't stop me from wishing you were part of the weekly 'FMU line-up.

One of my fave LPs of all time was Fakenews. It was so unlikely, unexpected, yet somehow necessary. I just had to go with it.
Avatar 5:17pm

Speaking as a Detroit native, allowing that the MC5's original was given execrably bad production by Jon Landau, this cover does not best it...not by a long shot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm
fred:

@Reeshard: is there a MC5 cover that you would recommend? I like covers, so I'd probably enjoy it

Superb show. I don't know why but everytime I hear Johnathan Richman I can't help but think of the Neighborhoods. I have always felt that Prettiest Girl is one of the unsung greatest Boston, MA pop/rock singles to ever be. Huh?.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm
fred:

Soon after I started my current job, a coworker told me in a challenging way that all alt/punks were actually art school students acting out. I submitted The Ramones as a counter-example, and got fleeting respect
