I often wonder if all of us listener/commenters are just a bunch of former drug users who maybe still smoke pot. I can only speak for myself and the voices in my head.

JakeGould:

I sometimes smoke socially. And nowadays mainly drink socially. And enjoying nice things as-is is enough for me most of the time.
  3:27pm

Anyway! It is a very nice day in NYC/NJ today. Do whatever and enjoy it.

In 1991 or so I saw Sun Ra at Maxwells in Hoboken. They played Elephants on Parade from Dumbo. I said to one of the band members "You guys are better than the Grateful Dead.". He said, "No, we are the Grateful Living!." Sorry if this story is a repeat!

Failure one step at a time! Belated happy birthday to Sun Ra.

deffo gonna check out the 70mm screening here in brighton.

Just saw 2001 Space Odyssey at East Village Cinema. I would have liked the screen to have been bigger (and less people sitting in theater) but it was incredible. Few movies transcend into being a powerful experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
paul b:

Saw 2001 in Cinerama when it came out. My mother drove us into Boston to see it. Had an effect on me it did. Well I was eight. Now all I remember is the line from the Mad Magazine version:
"What's that thing in the crater?"
"I think its the box the United Nations building came in."
  4:22pm
Bill W:

This is a bit technical, but 2001 was not shot in Cinema, but projected onto the curved screens in "rectified" prints.

  4:23pm

also, in NYC it will be shown in July/August in 70mm at MOMI in Astoria.
