Olive Borden was one of the most beautiful actresses of the silent screen. She starred in the incredible 1926 movie, The Monkey Talks. Only a poor print of the movie still exists, but it's definitely worth watching because of her. Unfortunately, she came to a sad end on Los Angeles' skid row. She was only 41.
Avatar 1:25pm Juke Joint Jonny:

imdb tells us that Olive Borden's last film, the voodoo potboiler Chloe, Love is Calling You, also features a band called the Shreveport Home Wreckers! Got to dig that!
Avatar 1:27pm Juke Joint Jonny:

Think it's these guys?? youtu.be...
Avatar 1:29pm Joe non Papa:

It's ages since I've read it but was she included in Kenneth Anger's "Hollywood Babylon"? Her story sounds like she would fit right in.

That was the best possible transition out of that Box Of Grass, song. I guess we just have to thank GOD for that....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Blacktooth:

Or Dog. Maybe we thank Dog for that...

That Anne Castle number rocks
Avatar 1:37pm Reeshard:

And here my morning was fairly uncomplicated...hell, where's my box of grass? And my spike? Must be around here somewheres...
Avatar 1:37pm trippinwithdub:

Sounding great as always, Rex. This Olive Borden has a Janis Joplin look.
Avatar 1:37pm Juke Joint Jonny:

Whole dang Chloe, Love is Calling You, if you need it: archive.org...
  1:37pm scott:

I thank dog that it's Saturday, which is every day for him, of course.
Avatar 1:40pm Reeshard:

Wow...THERE's a cautionary tale...
  1:42pm Lord Johnzon:

Thank dog indeed!
  1:43pm DG:

Is this the original "The Walk"? There's a bootleg of the Beatles doing this (probably from the Let It Be/Get Back sessions).
Avatar 1:45pm Joe non Papa:

BTW Rex, that Detroit pizza joint near the Chelsea Hotel has finally opened. Eater(dot)com likes it.
  1:57pm Papito:

HAD came on and the ghost of Bettie Page appears before me doing a HOT grind !
  1:57pm Lord Johnzon:

I'm embarrassed to say that I've lived in Detroit for almost four years and I don't really know what distinguishes "Detroit" pizza... but I have Celiac disease so I have an excuse... is it like thin crust and rectangular or is that some other city...

Well I got it half right... the part about the auto parts trays is familiar

Paradise on Saturday afternoon.
  2:31pm gd0:

What IS that crazy movie(?) dialog from, with the waitress rattling off a hundred drink names, and the customer dryly replies "beer" ? ? ?
Avatar 🌮 2:32pm Mailman Tom:

I stuck my Joe E. Ross No Brow sticker on my 45 record box
Avatar 2:43pm trippinwithdub:

Is that Rex singing in the background (Rex and the Rocking Hoods)?
  2:47pm mic_level:

"Cry Danger" -- unless I have my noirs jumbled up, which does tend to happen.
  3:00pm gd0:

@mic_level: thanks. but not Cry Danger. Scrolled thru, no drink waitress. Did find the "that's me - available" line, tho. Haha.
