	7:13pm Flash Strap: even more than my preference for the way vinyl sounds – a difference which is real and good, tho not always "better" per se – is the way vinyl transforms music (ephemeral) into a discreet object that is more than an object or commodity; it becomes an artifact, with aura and history and tactility, and I rhapsodize and adore to be in possession and in interaction with each LP I have. the true vinyl difference in my humble opinion

	🥁 7:29pm JtotheK: Flash @7:13pm - over the years I've come to enjoy the interaction with LPs/45s but lately especially enjoy the thought that goes into pruning. My collection/interests have changed the past 15+ years (I was incredibly intimidated by the 45 world up until a few years ago). 3-4 times a year I'll go through my LP collection and what hasn't been listened to in a while I debate in my head trading in to area stores. I'm glad you spun the Lateef record, as it's a reminder to keep that hard filed!

I just bought a laptop, and only had my music uploaded to it w/ no mixing software. So, I ended up tandeming YouTube videos and my mp3s all night. (I still brought two flight cases to work and to the club and back home for nothing.)

	9:16pm Flash Strap: there's this thing they do with a weird science liquid that coats the grooves and smooths them out that the Luaka Bop guys were telling me about once. that sounded pretty good, not sure what it was made of though

	9:19pm pastureized: I like the vinyl warble though! Sort of adds to each record's character as an individual artifact imo Is this show typically all-digital?
	9:21pm Anthony!: It’s just a missed opportunity. If BSR had invented a laser turntable they would still be in business. I don’t mind the warble, I don’t like the distortion at the end of a side. Drove me crazy. Especially on Pink Floyd and yes records.
	9:21pm Flash Strap: it's usually a healthy mix. Hi Pasteurized!
	9:22pm Dean: Can't say I've experienced a lot of IGD, though I know all kinds of distortion. I suspect the issue is mostly one related to equipment quality: good turntables well-tended will mitigate the problem.

	9:24pm coelacanth∅: i've never been bothered by inner groove distortion. maybe if i listened using a bsr turntable now (i did when i was 15) i would be!

	9:26pm TDK60: I know it's frustrating to have to interrupt a dazzling Yes suite, to clean dust off an needle.
	9:27pm still b/p: “Savor them sparingly.” They’re not the boss of me.
	9:28pm coelacanth∅: i'm in the habit of not only washing my record at each play but brushing the needle as well, with a very soft brush; and occasionally blowing out the whole area with canned air. i ruined too many albums before i learned.
	9:29pm Little Danny: I was just think how curiously atmospheric this bare organ stuff is. Twilight lounge vibes.
	9:30pm Anthony!: I don’t have a turntable. I am all hard drives now. But if there was a way to get rid of that, I would get a stereo system again.

	9:34pm still b/p: After seeing mega-magnified images of phono needle gouging and plowing out the grooves....creating curly shavings and tendrils of vinyl, I never forgot it. Wasn’t really more diligent about cleaning and such, but the horror, the damage, haunted me for good.

	9:37pm Anthony!: @still there are people out there who make high resolution copies of LPs at 24 bits 192k resolution. Records that have never been played. You get the best of analogue with th benefits of hi res digital.
	9:37pm Dean: I recall, c.1985, visiting my favorite stereo equipment store, where they first played my copy of Sequentia's first "Ordo Virtutum" (3 LPs) pre-cleaning, then ran a disk through the Keith Monk machine. They played it again. Stunning improvement!
	🥁 9:38pm JtotheK: Re: Bare Organ talk and Korla Pandit, cont. - I also learned about the Korla Pandit 45 'Brazilian Baion bw Turkish Dance'. Yet another 45 to look for. Danny - do you know that one? Worth checking out!

	9:40pm TDK60: Anthony, not at all, I dig Yes, not all of it. I understand why some may not like 'em (psych cheesiness?) but.. "Relayer" = my fave. "Close to the Edge" is really trippy; interrupting that for a dust-off may have sent people over the edge. So I like Yes, but don't tell any smirky post-punkers tho, I'm tryin' to keep clear of the Prog Police.

	9:45pm Anthony!: I just got into the fall after that dude died. I was late at the game and there were no clear entry points.
	9:46pm Dean: Once heard an A/B of A) Close to the Edge, first pressing, so-so quality, and B) Mobile Fidelity remaster of the album. Both had their high points, but the beat-up early disk was really vibrant. Fave Yes album: Tales. Close to the Edge comes next, then the earlier stuff. Relayer was a bit of a let-down.

	7:13pm Flash Strap: even more than my preference for the way vinyl sounds – a difference which is real and good, tho not always "better" per se – is the way vinyl transforms music (ephemeral) into a discreet object that is more than an object or commodity; it becomes an artifact, with aura and history and tactility, and I rhapsodize and adore to be in possession and in interaction with each LP I have. the true vinyl difference in my humble opinion

My collection/interests have changed the past 15+ years (I was incredibly intimidated by the 45 world up until a few years ago). 3-4 times a year I'll go through my LP collection and what hasn't been listened to in a while I debate in my head trading in to area stores. I'm glad you spun the Lateef record, as it's a reminder to keep that hard filed!

	9:21pm Anthony!: It’s just a missed opportunity. If BSR had invented a laser turntable they would still be in business. I don’t mind the warble, I don’t like the distortion at the end of a side. Drove me crazy. Especially on Pink Floyd and yes records.

	9:22pm Dean: Can't say I've experienced a lot of IGD, though I know all kinds of distortion. I suspect the issue is mostly one related to equipment quality: good turntables well-tended will mitigate the problem.

	9:37pm Dean: I recall, c.1985, visiting my favorite stereo equipment store, where they first played my copy of Sequentia's first "Ordo Virtutum" (3 LPs) pre-cleaning, then ran a disk through the Keith Monk machine. They played it again. Stunning improvement!
