Question of protocol: How long does one wait before declaring hiss to be unintentional?
  3:36pm
I AM:

This a Tubeway Army cover?
Avatar 3:37pm

Seeing as Courtney Barnett is currently 30, I'd say all Courtney Barnett is young Courtney Barnett.
Avatar 3:37pm

agree, amazing painting. wild body of work.
Avatar 3:38pm
Linda Lee:

actually Courtney Barnett is no-longer-quite-young Courtney Barnett. young Courtney Barnett is about 21. :-D
Avatar 3:38pm
Lixiviated Life:

@ AnAnonymousParty that all depends. Are you listening to a Bryce archive?
  3:38pm
Listener Robert:

@ AnAnonymousParty, I do wait longer before deciding hiss isn't content when listening to many WFMU programs than I would other stations.

I bet it's related to the wind this time. I hope it's not a scene in Mt. Hope like that in the playlist pic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Google Maps satellite view of Hyattville makes it look like a barren moonscape. Zooming in closer, I see some irrigation circles along the river. I'd paste a link, but it's a mile long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
AnAnonymousParty:

MY point exactly, seems like it is dependent on the show. Maybe each show should post its 'maximum hiss duration before considered dead air' parameter at the top of their show pages as a guide to the listener.

@Linda Lee-I used to listen to the "best jazz station in the world" in Toronto at 91.1 but I thought it kinda sucked compared to what Irwin plays. I would like to know where else to hear jazz...didn't The Old Codger play 78's of jazz?

when i was living up at 2400' before this year i picked up wrti out of temple u, philadelphia (i'm in ulster county, ny). they split their day between classical & jazz. jazz offerings were fairly uneven. quality was all about the dj on air. ~ i have a sense that a solid jazz program hosted by Irwin would be solidly top notch.
