Good Evening, Devon & All! This is very good!

How is it that Movie Music can be so interesting when movie trailers are uniformly bad?
Avatar 7:09pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Whiplash jolted into brilliant Composition after Micah's show!...
Because they're Ads Brian...
Avatar 7:11pm
βrian:

Do I hear a Glenn Gould Groan?
Avatar 7:13pm
βrian:

@RRabit: But I thought they were supposed to pay *us* to watch ads.
Avatar 7:14pm
βrian:

In any case, I don't really care that they're ads. But I do care that they pre-contaminate the experience of watching a movie.
Avatar 7:14pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I listen to too many GarageRawk & vintage Horror/SciFi podcasts - that use old B-Movie trailers: so bad it's good...so my radar's all off anyhow...
Avatar 7:15pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Trailers apparently made by completely different people...
Avatar 7:16pm
βrian:

@RRabit: I can see the appeal of old B-movie trailers for sure.

Just think, way back in the '60s "Johnny Williams" was writing music for Lost In Space.

JakeGould:

Key idea of why “The Last Jedi” stunk: When Luke showed up in “The Empire Strikes Back,” he’s no longer a farmboy and wearing leg warmers and a caftan. But in “The Last Jedi” Rey is still wearing her “I’m a scavenger!” outfit. In fact nobody wore clothes the way adults do. They never changed outfits between the two films.

Disney is keeping these films in adolescence.

Also, I’m older than you.

john williams wrote the lost in space theme and incidental music? it makes sense now that you say it no. 6

I'm more interested in the Spirit Awards, not because I take it more seriously, but John Mulaney and Nick Kroll are hosting.
Avatar 7:50pm
Number Six:

He wrote the theme and some of the incidental music. They used some studio tracks and I think had some other composers. But I think he did the bulk of it. And yes, he went by Johnny Williams then.

honestly. so far i like desplat.

Are there any old time listeners who remember some programming from 1985-1986; there was a DJ team with a straight man named Paul and a very obnoxious character whose name I forget. Mainly punk and hardcore and comedy as they interacted with each other. Im sure their show was in the evening
