You[re right. As much as those commercials you see on retro TV channels make catheters seem fun and exciting, putting one in so I can stand outside in the cold for 12+ hours is not really my thing either.

Was just NEAR Times Sq. in '81 or so & it was a nightmare....we were on line for MTV's New Year's party (a friend got us on "the list" supposedly) and all those drunken people kept coming up to us, asking what we were doing (MTV wasn't in NYC yet, so they thought MTV was some new drug we were waiting for)...and this was 9:30 or so. We never got in to the party (MTV overbooked), so we walked down 8th or 7th Avenue back to Penn, braving hordes of screaming idiots, to go back on the LIRR with more yelling, rowdy kids (I think a fight or two broke out). Fun! If you go to Times Sq. you deserve whatever you get.
