Irene Trudel:

Fellini gift un-wraps every Christmas, Robert. We toss the paper on the floor and let him have fun. Speaking of holidays, hope you all are enjoying the holidays!

Happy merry to all. Lovely opener- I kept thinking Weyes Blood? But who is Wilsen? Aaaaaand, my Natalie Lewinsky is a tuxedo cat too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks Tome and herb! No Weyes Blood today, as I'm focusing on favorites from the past year. Wilsen is an amazing, dream-folk band fronted by Tamsyn Wilsen, who is a Brit now living in Brooklyn. Maybe someday I can persuade them to come play live on WFMU. Oh, and Tuxedo Cats rule!

He talks too much (he's funny; I just prefer djs who tends on the playing-music side), but Prof Dum Dum hits a lot of good music, too (but I like wide swaths of genres)

No.... My schedule of going out to see bands is limited, unfortunately. Both because I’m poor and disabled. But I will moved them up on my list!

50 years ago - the Nightbird is hatched:

In the warmest recesses in the hearts of NYC radio listeners is ingrained a one-minute song excerpt that debuted New Years Day 1968 - 50 years ago. While vacationing on the West Coast, Alison Steele riffled through a friend's she was staying at albums, and Eureka!, found the perfect theme song for her show. Likely inspired by growing up near a Wakima, WA reservation, gather a few esoteric verses for Elisabeth Waldo's - "Chant to the Sun":

Irene Trudel:

Thank you, dear listener, for this! I'd never heard the piece Alison Steele used in the clear. She basically was my inspiration for shows throughout my radio career.
