Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.

45's. The little record that keeps the DJ busy : )

the OTHER Souuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul....stice! We need some hot music right now--bitter & unforgiving outside! Great version of Boots albeit it always seems that a man can't sing that properly...

Hi!!! Stuck at work until 11. Happy SOOOOOUUUUUL-stice everyone!
I'd love to hear Skylark's "Wildflower" if you feel like it. It should qualify with all your *rulez* and I know you have it on 7" because I donated it to you guys back around Hurricane Sandy (boo)... Cheers, and great f'ing show.
Al Kooper taught me about Little Beaver. He heard the single on the radio while driving around Atlanta in '71, pulled off the road, and was so mesmerized that he immediately bought a plane ticket and flew to Florida to track down the guitarists—he thought there were three. He found the label office, and met the sole guitarist responsible for all parts on Clean Up Woman. Kooper later did some recordings with Beaver, but I don't think they've been issued.
If I manage to build a big fire and jump in the creek again this Thursday, can I play this
show publicly to warm up afterwards?
So far nobody else is interested, but any listeners in the Philly environs would be welcome.
Yet another killer I'd never heard of, this L. Johnson

hawaii kai had a big fire in about 1974 but the short jewish drummer moved his drums out of the club the nite before because he saw a lightbulb sparking near the posters of the acts
