Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
I have a few Bessie Smith 78's and my great grandmothers 1921 victrola that still works perfectly. If I could go back in to see and hear one performer it would be Bessie
i know you just are always so accurate in enunciating the many languages of your music. so i thought maybe you would want to
say the spice in the hungarian way. but its all good, just like at the hawaii kai.
Outstanding program as always Good Sir Fields. Happens to be my birthday (already had a nice celebration) and it was excellent listening this evening! Thanks Gaylord!
