For most of its history the NRA didn't interpret the 2nd Amendment the way they do now and their emphasis was more on the responsibilities of gun ownership than on rights. It took a different turn in the 70s went on a propaganda campaign. Maybe part of the solution is to expose the history of gun control, which was an accepted part of civil society for most of our history. The Wild West mentality is actually a much more recent development.

Pseu, collective responsibility only goes so far in our system. Sometimes we reap what others sow. That aside those who want gun laws changed should not just limit their response to social media rants--they could join an advocacy group, of which there are many.

The Moosewood introduced me to cooking. A little heavy on the dairy, but some of the flavor principles have aged well.

Hey, don't knock the Moosewood cookbook; their bread pudding recipe is still my go-to.

Yo! Yo! I am not dissing “The Moosewood Cookbook” but just saying in 2017 you need to watch yourself.

Jake, I learned to cook from Moosewood. Think a few other people did too. No recipes that called for pee, if memory serves.

Speaking of, it's getting toward Borscht season. (The Moosewood's, of course.)

melinda:

@jake I guess so

Personally, I am far more fearful of angry dudes than the aforementioned female stereotype.

melinda:

Borscht season, indeed!
  2:41pm
JakeGould:

“…aforementioned female stereotype.” Not all women who like “The Moosewood Cookbook” ever try to get you to drink your own urine. Stop implying I have an agenda. Just go make your hippie borscht.

You're welcome, Pseu. Great show!

For the record: I am a female person who likes the Moosewood cookbook, does NOT drink their own urine or wear yoga pants, and likes borscht (although i like the hot version with beef in it).
