Hello there Irwin. I wanna say thank you for the Joe Frank monologues. I't bizarre, absurd and funny.
Have a great show today man.

PEACE all. Gotta install a cold air return using 10 inch ducts in the house. Maybe a 75 foot run when all done. Its HUGE.

Oh, but when it's done, it's gonna feel so niiiiiiice, Neil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm

The craziest thing about hearing all these Beach Boys sessions and snippets is the fact that they were assembled into incredibly accessible and successful pop records. You could just as easily taken the same material and built a difficult avant-garde masterpiece.

Listener Robert:

Oscar, with Shep just about any starting point is as good. The "Shepherd's Pie" shows he did for NJ Public TV, for instance, are a good selection. 95% of his material (written or spoken) breaks down one of these ways:

1. Short-format comedian schtick, commentary on the contemporary scene. Not what he was best known for, but some of his best, underappreciated stuff IMO.

2. Stories of his semi-fictional shildhood, semi-fictional time in the Army, or probably-factual travels.

3. Talking about show biz or science from his perspective.

4. Unfortunately, Jew's harp, kopf spielen, & singing. Testing fan loyalty.

  4:17pm
Listener Robert:

But of course the best experience of Shep was on stage, "in one". Still, you can also appreciate his narrations & voice-overs, or ephemera such as his shot (along with Ernie Kovacs) at succeeding Steve Allen at "Tonight". I guess they were too out-there, so they wound up with Jack Paar and then Johnny Carson.

I also convinced myself he did a silent TV walk-on as "a German shepherd".
