Good evening Micah, ready to be controlled
Avatar 6:03pm

Hi, everybody! A fine Thursday evening – time for some mind control!
  6:04pm
melinda:

Hi Micah and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm
Sebastian:

this is relaxing
Avatar 6:07pm
Carmichael:

Heya Micah. This is laidback mind control.
Avatar 6:17pm
Ike:

I like this. Also, this doesn't seem as openly cult-y as the last few times I tuned in. Not that there's anything wrong w/that.
  6:19pm
melinda:

I like this too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm

( uh - oh )

...that's my hangup w/ this outstanding program: ...catching myself liking something reportedly nefarious!...
Avatar 6:21pm
Will from Seattle:

Sorta reminds me of the soundtracks to Age of Mythology and other strategy PC games I played when I was a kid
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm
Whosondephone:

Hey everyone! I'll be listening on the way home. Peace!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...of course, we are a Cult anyway...as David Johansen asserts everybody's in drag...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm
Michael 98145:

( our headphones are a dead giveaway )

Elves. Yep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm
Sebastian:

nice highnotes
Avatar 6:29pm
Carmichael:

This is more proggy, which means they're more culty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Sebastian:

is this some of that "hippie-noise" everybody is talking about?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Elves - Tolkien connection maybe (a devout Catholic tho' expert on AncientNorthEuropre)...
'Closer To Home' by GrandFunk but more accomplished. Which is frightening.
Avatar 6:31pm
MenfussMike:

there was a lengthy article in Classic Rock magazine a year ago or so about Glenn Schwartz and his history in the band/cult. It was pretty messed up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
micah:

yes. jeff who was on my show wrote that article
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
dale:

this song is just great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

So much is influenced by 'Tommy'. Ironically, they miss the subtext of codified Religion ultimately failing to communicate Spirituality.
Avatar 6:36pm
northguineahills:

Been a while since i've heard decent xtian acid folk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
Michael 98145:

[ isn't all avid group belief in unseen things cultish? ]
  6:36pm
melinda:

This is pretty good for Jesus rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's lovely & still yet featureless. An unwitting testament to that state of mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
dale:

i think the borrowed some from 'can't find my way home'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
common:

I think so. Michael.
Avatar 6:37pm
northguineahills:

I believe the cultish part involves the ease of becoming a part of a group and leaving said group. Charismatic ego-tripping leader helps too. It's a fuzzy line.
Avatar 6:38pm
MenfussMike:

@DALE indeed!!!

@dale I was reminded of that song, too.

Hello Micah and everyone. I am making sesame noodles to your show and getting good and brainwashed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I theorize one has a spiritual experience - & the only way to relate or process socially is through the established Religion. The Zen proverb is mistaking the finger pointing for the actual moon - now I might say mistaking the search engine for the website...I understand! - Fortunately - I didn't encounter - &/or had elements of my personality that were not susceptible to - controlling leaders...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
dale:

brain washing removes all the dirt and grit and grime from the nooks and crannies of one's gray matter. like getting all the sand out of an oyster before you schlurp it down.

'Beware the Salvation racket.' - Burroughs

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm

it's easy listening, east hollywood.
  6:47pm
melinda:

I'm digging the music tonight.
  6:47pm
Minty:

It's amazing how many charismatic and cult leaders seem to feel so much inspiration through their crotch.
Avatar 6:47pm
Will from Seattle:

a good brain is like a piece of antique furniture. It should never be washed & allowed to develop a nice patina from heavy use

Betsy O:

The 12 Tribe people would set up a large fair on the Smithsonian Museum Mall during the 4th of July weekend 8-10 years ago. They all dressed similar to the Amish, except the guys had long hair and all the women wore 19th century prairie dresses.

Today's selections are generally remarkably well-Produced - in contradiction to what many might think of Cults? A Political parallel now?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm

@cosmic I sort of remember the Muddy Waters but had no idea the cult started it. Their shoe store in Island Pond was very popular, I knew people who would do a day trip their just for the shoes.

The U.S. was founded by Post-Renaissance Rosicrucians - but also by the Puritans & religious fugitives...

it was founded by religious freaks--we can never forget that
