A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

I went to the Met yesterday and I am not really sure how I feel about all the picture taking. The Irving Penn exhibition was hard to get through because everyone was taking pictures of the pictures!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am

I told FB that my birthday was in january, since you know I am in the witness protection program. I was always amazed when people wish me well in january. But actually isn't that when we all need well wishes? in the deepest dark of a new year
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am

it is weird isn't it? when people take pictures of pictures. i am guilty of that some times.

I totally do that picture-of-picture-taking. It's because I want to be able to look at them again later and remember the chills they gave me IRL. But I can see how it could get pretty annoying if everyone's doing it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am
The Oscar:

I was at a restaurant a couple of years ago when a haunting song started playing. Everyone at my table (mostly past and present record store clerks) strained to recognize the song, but couldn't. Eventually, I realized that we were actually hearing TWO songs: "Past Present and Future" was playing in the dining room, and "Black Hole" by Beck was leaking in from the kitchen. They worked surprisingly well together!
Avatar 10:25am
bobdoesthings:

wasn't it Vetiver.. or maybe Devendra who sort of brought Vashti back into the scene? I know she sang on an early Devendra album..
  10:25am
Mike Wolf:

My dog Dusty heard her name and came closer to the music and I believe she likes this song.
Avatar 10:25am

and early on Devendra Banhart was playing with Vetiver.. I think animal collective did something with Vashti around that time too , if memory serves.
  10:26am
Mike Wolf:

@bobdoesthings Correct on all fronts — I think Devendra was more in the lead but AC and Vetiver both got involved with Vashti's return shortly after.

I think not a lot of people here are celebrating it that way. Most people consider it just a free free day of. There is a bit of tradition that you go cycling very early in the morning (dauwtrappen, morning dew cycle) and there's some music festivals going on. Not very interesting ones, though.
