Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
@coelacanth∅: Tak Shindo is a nisei who studied music both in U.S. conservatories and in Japan. He was the go-to Hollywood composer for so-called Orientalia soundtracks.
wow, that's crazy, gaylord!! it's too bad what happened to her. makes me a little nervous walking up the block considering we have the same last name...
My friend told me a guy went to a Columbia/Barnard dorm Halloween party dressed as her (with a piece of papier-mache cornice work strapped to his head). People who knew here Were Not Pleased.
Hey Gaylord. First time I hang out here, but I have listened to WFMU for years. I missed the last segment, but I overheard you played a german band a little while ago. I was wondering what was the name of the band
