That Buffy Sainte-Marie track is very nice indeed
Avatar 6:35am

Wow. Thanks everyone. I stumbled across it last night as i was preparing and it sounded right to me.

I was thinking I must have missed one of your shows, but no, you really haven't been on the air since August. Mike, eight months between shows is far too long
Avatar 6:49am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah, loves my NateK but good to hear ya.
Avatar 6:51am
Mike Van Laar:

Yeah, Fred, I agree. That's why I'm here Easter Sunday. 8 months is too long. The good news is I've been having some luck at the Goodwill, so some fun new/old records to play.
Avatar 6:52am
Mike Van Laar:

My last show was so long ago I forgot that I played that "Trad, Gras..." track then. It's so good though, I don't really care. Hope you don't.

And thanks, RevRabbit!

@Mike It worked alright, made me tune in to the playlist to clicky star it. ;)

Another water sign...
But the Rev Rab would have comments of all things astrological.
Avatar 7:07am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Some actual Astrological info on there - not too bad...even got beyond the usual PR that ♓Pisces correlates to just spirituality & sensitivity - & there is the flipside of delusion & even emotional manipulation
...as a ♏Scorp - yerknow - we always get the bad press!...
Avatar 7:16am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Neat-o hearing the Elevators' sort of sibling band - Golden Dawn. They don't get an awful lot of spins...
Avatar 7:23am
Mike Van Laar:

RevRabbit - Yeah I agree. Even though that album has so matter similarities to 13th Fl. Elevators,I don't think that's a bad thing, and it's pretty good on it's own.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23am
fred:

Daniel Higgs! Very interesting guy. I only got to see him once, but it was memorable. He had met traditional Indian or Pakistani musicians in London, so he brought them on for his tour. Somehow, he made it work

@NGH: That's understandable, as Mike's appearances have been few and far between for a while. Weird that I'm usually there to listen

One of my absolute favorite Beatles songs. We almost named our daughter Julia because of this song.

When my now wife moved in w/ me, I was listening to all of my physical musical media in alphabetical order. I hit the Beatles the second day, and it lasted almost 3 weeks. She still nearly hates the Beatles.

happy easter from NH. burn those jelly beans

Oh really, Mark? That's great! That's why we did. Always loved that one. Thanks..

I can always count on you, Fred! You get me.
  8:11am
Mark R:

3 weeks in a row of the same artist will make you hate anybody. (Maybe not Beethoven.) FMU-ers mostly subscribe to the "variety is the spice of life" ethos. Witness this radio program. Digging the gospel btw.
Avatar 8:14am
northguineahills:

My Sun Ra, Stockhausen, and Stereolab sections were weeks long as well (years after the Beatles). They didn't raise the same enmity as the Beatles in her.

judy from croton:

Hey, sem chumbo! Mike VL, this music is fantastic and helping poach salmon, roast lamb and make sure there's no hair in the bathroom sink.
Company's comin.
Avatar 8:21am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Beatles is the deepest roots for me - they had me @ the Sat. A.M. cartoon show in its' original run. I can burn out on them - but it doesn't last. You could argue they helped pioneer an ethic of variety - never doing the same album twice & surfing the times w/ flair...but I need new sonic input - a junkie for it...Limited listening would be very UnBeatle-like...

Was in a brief band project that covered one GBV song - but I'm otherwise unfamiliar - so Pollard is weirdly strange & familiar @ once!...
Avatar 8:22am
Mike Van Laar:

Hey Judy! Thanks! Don't forget, just like salmon, house guests start to stink after 3 days. Good luck and keep poaching!
Avatar 8:25am
Mike Van Laar:

RevRabb. Same here. My old man got me started ( I think the first track I heard was "Strawberry Fields.." or " I am the Walrus) Thanks Dad! -- I usually go in phases...burn out after a few weeks, then revisit in 6 months or so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29am

@judy from croton: just back from planting leeks, beets, peas, and spinach.
Finally time!

How's all in Croton?

re: Fat Mattress
I only have the first album, so it was nice to hear a track off the even more obscure second LP!

@judy - I hope Bosco gets some nice salmon today ... and keeps the sink clean.
