Unite? Leave the corners of the fields of plenty for the needy, Israel and America,

What do Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen have in common? None of them have any connection to Trump’s business interests. “Not a single American was killed on U.S. soil by citizens from any of those countries between 1975 and 2015…” www.nydailynews.com...

@Revolution rabbit - I second your comment. And thank you Bas and the Netherlands for your sanity in picking up some of the global women's healthcare that we are now gutting. I'm sure you'll soon be banned from our shores for it.
  6:29pm James:

There's also a protest happening at Newark Terminal B - info on the Make the Road NJ Facebook page
  6:30pm JakeGould:

@djsheilab: To be fair, your deep knowledge of 1960s girl pop really threatens the American-based doo wop nostalgia industry so hey…

But seriously, fuck this ban crap. I had 2-3 hours of sleep this past Wednesday when I decided to go to the protest the then proposed ban in Washington Square Park after work. But it was worth it. Now we’re in this crazyland already?
  6:31pm Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Rob thank you so much for your thoughtful shows. I loved last weeks show too. Just tuned in and you are uplifting as usual.
Avatar 6:31pm Dave:

Rob, your words made me smile and tear. thanks for bringing out compassion even in these darkest times. As a radio person myself, it is hard to continue bringing out music without conceptualizing and discussing the darkness the world also faces. Thank you for doing so and for inspiring me to do the same. Tried to call and give thanks, but understandably the lines are busy. Solidarity!

I am born and raised in Ireland. Will I be deported? They'd have to close down lots of bars to do that. Sheila B, it will take years of litigation before anyone is deported. By then, Trump will fade from memory like the Nehru jacket.
  6:40pm Barba Yiorgi:

What I posted was: "As soon as I heard that Iranian funk cut, I sussed out what the theme of the show was likely to be 2nite, bravo!" (spellcheck mangled part of t) Bravo also to your spoken words. Please keep it up. much appreciated. This is not the time for silence.

Come out cowards. Show your beautiful faces and speak freely as you wish. I am sure the world would love to listen as much as see who you truly are :)

America, we have much to learn from our Israeli brothers, God's chosen.
Out in the open, in the light.
  6:42pm JakeGould:

@Carmichael: You realize they are detaining green card holders from that list of countries if they come back to the U.S. right now? That is why there are protests at JFK right now.
  6:43pm Carmichael:

The real victim of this election is civility. No more talking, just lots of yelling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Enuff of Immigrants w/ possible dangerous intent: Send everybody back but the Arapaho, the Cherokee, the Sioux. That would leave our troll...& his family, & all his Conservative friends here - I'm sure...though I'm sure some of them are good people...

For the record, none of the 9/11 hijackers came from the countries on that horseshit list.
  6:44pm Carmichael:

I know now Jake, thanks.
  6:46pm JakeGould:

@Carmichael: No problem! Peace! These aren't my own words. But I'll leave them here:
https://twitter.com/onekade/status/825182289969700864
https://theintercept.com/2017/01/28/trumps-muslim-ban-is-culmination-of-war-on-terror-mentality-but-still-uniquely-shameful/

"It is critical to recognize and fight against the unique elements of Trump's extremism, but also to acknowledge that a substantial portion of it has roots in political and cultural developments that long precede him. Immigration horror stories, including families being torn apart, are nothing new. As ABC News noted last August, 'The Obama administration has deported more people than any other president's administration in history. In fact, they have deported more than the sum of all the presidents of the 20th century.'"
  7:27pm ddooly:

thank you for tonight's show

something else the seven countries have in common:

  7:55pm Sam:

Hi Rob, the show is wonderful as usual! To add to the info about the protests at JFK and Newark Airports, evidently the NY taxi union is stopping pick-up and drop-off at that airport. And the Working Families Party has people at JFK who are saying they will stay until the people detained there are released. The more the merrier at the protest!
  8:06pm Carmichael:

@tinklebear, the difference of course is that Obama never acted on that list during his 8 years in office. Trump acted in 7 days. If you think it was necessary, please state as much and quit apologizing.
  8:09pm S & T (in LA):

Thanks for another great show & keeping us up to date on East Coast reaction to the refugee crisis
  8:15pm Marie:

Good point RRN.One of the potentially scarier points to me is
  8:23pm tortugatara:

thanks so much for this program tonight, it means a lot - beautiful sounds
  8:30pm tinkle bear:

Carmichael: Obama signed the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act which, as Sarah Harvard's mic.com article explains, "improved" the Visa Waiver program by denying visa waivers to foreign travelers and dual citizens as follows:

"At the initial signing of the restrictions, foreigners who would normally be deemed eligible for a visa waiver were denied if they had visited Iran, Syria, Sudan or Iraq in the past five years or held dual citizenship from one of those countries.

"In February 2016, the Obama administration added Libya, Somali and Yemen to the list of countries one could not have visited — but allowed dual citizens of those countries who had not traveled there access to the Visa Waiver Program. Dual citizens of Syria, Sudan, Iraq and Iran are still ineligible, however."
  8:31pm Glenn J.:

Really enjoying the music this evening. Thank you.
  8:35pm Carmichael:

So, what is your point? That Trump isn't such a bad guy after all? That he's just following in the footsteps of Obama? That it's what America wants? Again, please state your point and quit apologizing for our present POTUS.
  8:39pm tinkle bear:

Carmichael: You may want to consider the possibility that people who state facts that do not reflect well on politicians you favor are not necessarily fans of politicians you despise.
Also, enjoy the show. (Thanks, Rob!)
Cheers.
  8:52pm Carmichael:

Good Lord, you're simply a waste of time. You throw out reams of data for no apparent reason. Apparently you have no political stance at all, rather a "know it all" persona with no direction.
  8:58pm asheville jon:

Yay politics! (Insert rolling eyes here)

Thanks for a real nice show Rob
