Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from January 27, 2017 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Notable rendition of Just In Time: In the parking lot at Club Bene in Morgan NJ, summer '73, when a small fire had broken out inside, the actors appearing at the time in the dinner theater production of Bells Are Ringing, which featured the song, sang a chorus, referencing the fire department arriving...."just in time"...

@doctorjazz: A few nights ago UM asked for a recommendation of a Zeke record, and I waffled. Gonna do the same re: 'O'. I heard their studio albums a long time ago, c.1978-'80. I bought the live record on a lark, having sought out unsuccessfully in record stores (not online) the older records, which I've never owned. What impresses me about the live one is the extent--almost 80 minutes of show. The production is a little hot, i.e., too live, but it's a live album! I'd say go for the live one. Completely forgot they'd recorded "Almost Saturday Night"!

One thing about growing up in NorthNewEngland - w/ the hills - you didn't pick up stations from 1,000s of miles away. Struggled to pull in WBCN Boston for instance - which efd worked @. Then again - many many stations bookmarked in iTunes - playing cat & mouse w/ stream addresses when everyone wants you should use their Players...maybe people stumble on stuff w/ Sirius XM & the like? ...problem is, not be a dictionary etymologist - we're all still just soundless letters on a screen to me! My guess is 'ghee-gur' would be like golly-gee & grrr like an angry dog ?

He was a German speaking Swiss, and not a French (or Italian, or Romansch) Swiss, so hard G's and pronounced 'r' as noted above.

My experience has been that no matter how I pronounce it, someone is going to correct me with yet another pronunciation. But I will stick with gee-gr with hard G's for now.

i had a date in chinatown years ago. we didn't know it was the new year time and i did not know that she was terrified of fireworks; but there was no indication of the new year celebration until suddenly a giant commotion broke out. crowds of people seemed to come out of nowhere and a 3-4 person dragon puppet doing a warning dance in front of a particular store that i guess had dishonored some sort of code of ethics and fireworks going off everywhere. it was pretty Crazy!
