Way early, but just noting for all Simpsons nerds on the Global Grease tip that the track on the stream (Jimmy Noone) has the same notes as the Itchy and Scratchy theme. :)

it does, doesn't it?

listener james from westwood:

If anyone's gonna have heard of that oldie back in 1990-ish, it'd have been Matt Groening and his oddball record collection.

listener james from westwood:

How do, Kim, glenn, and all! Hoping Fred's the type to come drape himself over cold feet this time of year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm
KimSorise:

Hahaha! I wish Fred was. No, instead he is the type that jumps on the couch, pulls the blanket right of me, and claims it for his own. He's a bugger sometimes. Silly old Fred

KimSorise:

This records appears to be as clean as can be... all shiney as such. Certainly doesn't sound that way... sorry folks, but I tend to like the surface noise
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm
listener james from westwood:

Surface noise has not deterred me for the past umpty-ump years as an FMU listener and it's not gonna deter me tonight!

...surface noise is texture.

Agreed, I was just surprised by how noisey the Greene LP was with it looking so very nice. - Welcome, Geezerette

Hallo Uncle Michael

geezerette:

Are these the values of Kwanzaa?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
KimSorise:

Certainly not sure of that but it was Leroi Jones (who only recently had changed his name to Imamu Amiri Baraka) reciting the vocals
Avatar 8:39pm
geezerette:

Whatever it was, it was beautiful.
Avatar 8:41pm
Scraps:

Don't like Baraka. He believed the Jews knew about 9/11 beforehand, among other things.

It's true that somebody like him can write something beautiful. I just don't like him, that's all.

More jazz moods, please!

Pekar has very conservative jazz taste

God, Patty Waters.... every time I listen to her, my hair stands on end
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm
KimSorise:

No worries, I did love his book Blues People and have a pretty large collection of 60/70s black poets. He was pretty prolific at the time and managed to end up on many a great jazz LP - that being said - he definitely spewed some shit form time to time.
Avatar 8:49pm
geezerette:

Never heard her before but she definitely does that !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
KimSorise:

Always, always happy to do more jazz shows. I am thinking this may be the way of my next 'FMU premium - but man, Patty... she kills.

Thanks, sometimes I wonder if it works - at times they can be a bit disjointed but your kind words are much appreciated, James.

Hey James!

Kim, something heroic about being so emotionally bare and present, even in a studio. She must have been that way live tooo.
