Another loss for 2016
Avatar 12:16am

There's a lot of good Oliveros, lots of it in collaboration.

Primordial Lift is really good, and I think it's in print
Avatar 12:18am

The label Deep Listening has several of her works, including the album Deep Listening
Avatar 12:19am

Two other good ones: "I Of IV" on New Sounds In Electronic Music comp (1967)...Accordion & Voice on Lovely Music (1982)

These Willie Dunn songs from the last few shows are certainly poignant.

Huh. Doesn't sound like most Tzadik.

OTOH, I guess I only know Tzadik that I already know. There's lots of Tzadik that I don't know....

No U2 on Avant Ghetto! No Grateful Dead on Spin Age Blasters! Today is the day that FMU says No!

@Scraps: Where's b k?

Someone should do a show just of bands that other DJs refuse to play.

PLayed 3hours of This Heat today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20am
joeray:

Creamo was sort of dissing the Dead followers, "they should have been following This Heat!"
  2:20am
Dean:

Nope, I don't think I could tolerate several hours of Journey.
Avatar 2:21am

@joeray: ha! I wondered just fifteen minutes ago

Of course, i was reading too....
  2:31am
Katie | Toronto:

Yeah yeah Blurred & Obscured! Records DJs refuse to play. Sorry my whole comment didn't post. Amazing show tonight btw dude. I feel like when people tell me their favourite band is This Heat it's untrue. Right? 3 hours seems nuts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34am
joeray:

I mentioned your show in the comments of Spin Age Blasters, Jeff. I asked commenter b k (said he saw the Dead 600 times) who seemed angered by Creamo's comment about the Deadheads, if he ever listened to The Avant Ghetto. He never replied.
  2:34am
Mark R:

I"m so ignorant, this is the first time I've heard of them. Play some Foghat, man.
Avatar 2:36am
Scraps:

My brother says when I say Wire is my favorite, he doesn't believe me. I don't understand him. You really don't believe people who says This Heat is their favorite band?
Avatar 2:38am
Jeff Conklin:

This Heat are amazing. Deceit is a masterpiece. The live recordings are great. Charles Hayward played in Gong!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38am
joeray:

@Katie: 3 hours of This Heat was kind of nuts, but in a good way!
Avatar 2:40am
Jeff Conklin:

And thank you, Katie.
  2:42am
bbb:

Charles Hayward also played in Quiet Sun!
Avatar 2:42am
Scraps:

"seemed angered"?

He said, among other thngs, "Nothing shows anyones musical ignorance more than not getting the Dead."

I like the Dead. But really.
  2:43am
Katie | Toronto:

I agree they are amazing. But it's a bit suspicious. To be a FAVOURITE band. It's too damn academic to be a favourite or something. I had someone tell me The Shaggs were their top five recently and I called BS to their face! I did NOT know that about Gong. Sick.
Avatar 2:43am
Jennifer_PNW:

Forgot about that Quiet Sun record, I recall liking it quite a bit.
Avatar 2:44am
Scraps:

And Hayward replaced Massacre when Fred Maher left
Avatar 2:44am
Jeff Conklin:

I agree with your point, Katie, I don't think they can be anyone's favorite
  2:44am
bbb:

@Jennifer, yeah I love that Mainstream record
Avatar 2:45am
Scraps:

Quiet Sun's Mainstream is one of my fifty favorite albums
Avatar 2:47am
Jeff Conklin:

The Shaggs are terrible in every respect. Not even likeable in a Jandekian sense.
  2:47am
Katie | Toronto:

I have many Elaine "English Patient" moments though, working at a record store, so I'm touchy that way haha. Is this an OG Timmothy?
Avatar 2:48am
Jennifer_PNW:

@bbb, @Scraps, amazing lineup on that record
Avatar 2:48am
Jeff Conklin:

A shop in TO, Katie? I go up there often!

Not an OG Timmothy...

What is this Xtra beautiful Toronto song???
Avatar 2:50am
Scraps:

Man, if anyone said they didn't believe my favorite band, whatever the reason, first i would explain, and then if they still didn't believe me, i would be angered
  2:51am
Katie | Toronto:

Yeah a shop in TO! Not far from *Yonge street :)
Avatar 2:54am
Jeff Conklin:

@Katie: You don't work in my favorite spot there because its always the same old, angry dude. (Don't say the name if you know it. I like keeping it a secret)
Avatar 2:55am
Scraps:

And i liked the Shaggs, and i think we know too much about them. If they were in the 1980s, and we knew about them about what we know about, oh the Raincoats, we wouldn't hold them in contempt.

But that's because i really like them. Really.
  2:56am
Katie | Toronto:

@Scraps Respect. Honestly!
Yeah man I 100% know who haha
