Too druck to funk!

Full Blast live was one of the top five shows I've attended.
Avatar 3:14pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

they're unbelievable live.
Avatar 3:15pm
Richard Gruesome:

I am enjoying the way that the Full Blast track is syncing with the Anna May Wong dancing gif

Believe me, I believe it. They played a now defunct tiny space here in Berkeley back in '05, I think. Went to hear Brotzmann. Heard Brotzmann^10.
Avatar 3:16pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

quite nicely! thanks, grue!
Avatar 3:17pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

(i'm standing by my typo)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm

I was converted to Brotzman when I saw him with Toshinori Kondo (Die Like a Dog combo)
Avatar 3:31pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

Correction: I purchased one from clean feed records, not Shhpuma.
Avatar 3:31pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

shhpuma is a clean feed imprint

Saw Kondo with him in the Tentet. Spectacular.

Ah, must be same then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm

Dean and anyone who's interested:
It's a mindblast.

Love hearing Brotzmann blow his spleen out his sax-hole. I never tire of it.

That'll be tonight's wind-down fare, Stanley. Thanks. I do have their records.

abowie/peace, I should clarify...
Avatar 3:46pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

you know where the name 'die like a dog' came from? if i remember the story right, brotzmann wrote an article about albert ayler and when it came out the line break left the phrase "die like a dog" at the top of the next page so he kept it (with regards to it being awful that ayler had to die like a dog).

A tribute not only to Ayler and Brotzmann, but to line breaks.

Pagan Muzak!

honestly, that gif goes well with any music. I chose wisely if I do say so myself

Anagram for "hot tub."
Avatar 4:23pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

ha! that's what happens when you think auto-fill has your back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm

Okay, that right-channel thing came so out of nowhere that I had to stop the pop-up player for a minute to make sure it was part of the broadcast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
Rich in Washington:

'I Glaze Mum Us' is the funniest anagram I can come up with from Muslimgauze

Having your tofu removed?
Avatar 4:48pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

ok, i can't accept false medical pity pledges. that's just something i heard someone say in a bar once and i thought it was funny.
Avatar 4:50pm
Jesse K:

Psychic surgery is still surgery

Except in the case of people like me, for whom psychic surgery is purely non-invasive.

One of my favorite Piazzola tributes is Barenboim's with Rodolfo Mederos and Hector Console. This Klucevsek sounds pretty swell, too.

I am pretty much a newcomer to his music - just vaguely aware of Heldon on fairly recently. Amazing stuff.

Consume Red sounds like something Kubrick would call a scene and it sounds like something he would use to score a scene.
Avatar 6:27pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

ha! this would be a long scene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm

It also sounds like a very weird take on blowing the shofar (all right, let's get the crude puns out of the way), which is suitable to this evening.
Avatar 6:36pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

it's actually a hojok, a japanese double reed instrument
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
Dave in Vermont:

this just keeps getting better and better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm

It really is epic.

"Consume Red on which the performers improvise around a short sample of hojok music played by the Korean holy musician Kim Seok Chul."
