Funny how once she became known for her explicit material and "raps" in the middle of songs, that sort of became her career past the mid 70s. Lighter, entertaining material the labels could get behind, but she did many songs like this in the early 70s about justice and hypocrisy, but it seems those faded in favor of the sensational.

This Tengger is terrific. Has anyone ever seen a Tanager. The bright red bird. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. Made a cardinal seem downright dull. There are even brighter ones than the one I saw. It seemed to be an older bird. A teenage tanager, you might say. Loved the Tengger. Totally!

I think making original music in tribute to this era of Krautrock is a swell idea. But as for the "why", perhaps they thought it would be fun to market that conceit - this is "why" you are hearing these sounds. I don't need the conceit to enjoy this, but it does make it a little more fun!
