	2:26am Fox (Rā-chul): We just went to finally see the new Star Trek movie. The script was good, but I hate CGI and action sequences edited to fuck, so I didn't really like it, but it still made me cry.

	2:35am mariano: @Fox: action scenes have really started ruining movies more and more because now they're so obligatory, and always so unrealistic, with people smashing through glass, falling a few stories, taking repeated blows to the head, etc, without basically, you know, dying or at least winding up in an ICU/trauma unit.
	2:40am Wm.: ...I'm so much a product of classic Trek ... The new films are fun to watch, but I don't take them seriously as works sci-fiction; too much of a Roddenberry loyalist, I guess. ...
	2:40am Fox (Rā-chul): @mariano: I take most issue with the fact that action shots are edited so rapid fire, and the action itself is so chaotic, that there's no tension or cohesion to what I'm watching. There's no visual story being told, just a mess of violence. I think. Who knows? I can't tell wtf is going on.

	2:43am Fox (Rā-chul): Wm: Yeah, it's like watching hot young millennials cosplay Star Trek on a green screen. All the wieght of the relationships between the characters is based on the existence of the original series, and there's hardly any moral dilemma going on - it's all just action romp.
	2:46am Fox (Rā-chul): Hear hear. Most digital everything sucks. I'd be so much happier with physical effects. Also, the wonders of 3D are totally lost on me.
	2:48am mariano: @Fox: yeah, breakneck editing, that's another one. I think it started with the Bourne franchise, or at least it made the technique popular. If people are basically indestructible and you can't even tell who's hitting who, like you say there's no tension.
	2:49am mariano: This reminds me of that YouTube clip of that guy in his backyard doing that really noisy "I HATE EVERYONE!!!!" piece, with neighbors and a sheriff's deputy looking on.

	2:50am Fox (Rā-chul): Daredevil definitely put together some amazingly choreographed fight scenes, and did it so complicatedly well that I didn't mind the digital assistance, because it would have been near impossible otherwise. Clearly used Old Boy as inspiration.
