Frees was not only Boris Badenov, he was John Lennon and George Harrison... amazing... his list of credits is extensive and wide ranging...

Hmmmm. My wife's from Garfield but doesn't seem to remember the Belmont Ballroom. I do remember the CHOO CHOO CLUB but never went.
  2:01pm P-90:

Paul Frees, one of the All-Time giants. In addition to the enormous catalog of vocal characters, he does appear in some very notable films, like the original 1950's "The Thing" as one of the scientists at the North Pole lab, and in the original "War of the Worlds" as a reporter. In the earliest Pilsbury "Pop 'n' Fresh" commercials he actually sings an extended song/jingle, and does a very nice job. He was also often called on to do a kind of erzatz "Orson Welles" heavy narrative voice, like when they didn't want to pay the actual Welles (like at the very end of Beneath the Planet of the Apes.")

For after this show, for Ray Bradbury fans: Paul Frees narrates a Bradbury story,"Here There Be Tygers".

Avatar 2:07pm Lemmy Skynyrd:

I see no record credits for Frees at Wikipedia, so I'd like to think a Holy Grail in the form of a 45RPM exists...
Avatar 2:08pm kyle a.:

Paul Frees is prepared to know what time it is in no fewer than 5 cities simultaneously.
  2:16pm P-90:

@Lemmy, he may have no solo record credits, but Frees appears on tons of comedy records, Stan Freeberg's stuff, Hanna-Barbera children's records, etc etc
  2:17pm P-90:

"...all radio is dead", that was Frees in War of The Worlds

Greetings, Mensa dropouts!
  2:23pm P-90:

Haha, classic Wolfman Jack moment
Avatar 2:24pm Lemmy Skynyrd:

thanks, P-90... Hanna-Barbera, better yet an enterprising reissue label, should release Bedrock Twitch by Rock Roll (voiced by Otis the Drunk) b/w Eep Op Ork Ah-Ah by Jet Screamer (voiced by Ernest T. Bass)... that pair is an odd bit of cartoon trivia synchronicity...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Power Papi:

Is this Ken Nordine?
  2:32pm P-90:

Also gotta mention Frees's Disney work, most notably his creation of the voice of Professor Ludwig von Drake. And he dubbed all of Tony Curtis's lines in "Some Like it Hot" when the character is in drag and speaking in a falsetto "female" voice.
Avatar 2:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...somebody's gotta do it...
Avatar 2:38pm Lemmy Skynyrd:

thanks for finding the Holy Grail, Rex... this version of The Look Of Love is absolutely essential...
  2:38pm P-90:

Like many impressionists, Frees's Karloff doesn't sound much like Karloff at all.
I liked the Bob Crewe-style smooth backing arrangenent, though.
