About 5 years ago we, Platenclub Utrecht, released one of the very first recordings of Shocking Blue singer Mariska Veres on an EP: Summerime (also from '64). And about 20 years ago a friend of mine, Jimmy Tigges, who collects Summertime versions, released a wonderful book with over 1200 versions of that song. So good to here this song as first one after your holiday.

There are three places where I'd like to live out my days. I haven't been to two of them. They are St. Louis (been there), Detroit, and the island of Cyprus.

In my college days, Q98 FM had a mystery song contest at midnight on Fridays. We'd dial all but the last digit while the DJ was talking. We scored about four free Domino's pizzas while they were running that contest.

Sheila! Are you going to the Takarazuka Revue performances next weekend at Lincoln Center? 200+ member Japanese girl group!

Thanks for that tip, Ken, I'll keep it in mind next time I want to score some free tix.

Ok, I'm slow, but I figured out the Detroit song is funny because the character in the lyrics has no idea what old new York or current Detroit are about. She's an unreliable narrator.

Leonard Nimoy sang a LOT of songs. If I Had a Hammer was yucky, as was that strange number about Bilbo Baggins.

Hello to the DJ playing the Israeli song right now--- There are tons of Israeli radio stations on the web and great apps for your smartphone. Many non commercial stations have "Jewish" shows, usually on Sunday's, which play a lot of current Israeli music as well. Keep exploring!

Sheilab, the way you played Britney next to the Israeli singer , Sahit, allowed me to hear her very interesting phrasing and rhythms in a new light. This is just one example among hundreds where you cut through prejudice and conformity to share a musician with your listeners so they can enjoy it through your perspective. Just one reason that makes you so special. Thanks!
