well, then you haven't heard ol' Bob croaking out Polka Dots and Moonbeams.

He's actually pretty gentle and sincere about it.

Long instrumental intro, though. You start thinking, "Is ol' Bob going to sing on this one or not?"

You gotta figure, it can't sound that different from "Nashville Skyline".
Avatar 4:00pm
Jeff:

I haven't had much time with it yet.

I came to like Shadows in the Night much more than I expected to, though. Especially the smaller, more intimate and personal sounding songs. The ones trying to be big and dramatic, not so much - that's more Roy Orbison territory.

Irwin, did you hear Benji Hughes' album "A Love Extreme" eight years ago? He finally released a follow-up this year. It's called "Songs in the Key of Animals". I don't think anyone at FMU has played it yet. The song "Girls Love Shoes" is ridiculous.

Get out, really? As for her recording, Wikipedia lists a discography.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm
Parq:

As for Moondog, the thing I find most poignant about his story is that (as I assume your guest will get into, since it is in his book that I learned of this), when he moved to Europe (Germany, to be specific), he found every bit of the adulation as a celebrated and serious modern-classical composer that he was always denied in the States. Small wonder he spent the rest of his life there.
  5:13pm
Cliff:

Yep Irwin, this had to have been back around 2001-02, I don't think Alan Watts has been played on the station since then. (Unless I imagined it all, but I was a teetotaler back in those days)

Ooh, re: Judith Owen ... and i quote: -A Judith signature is also to turn the most unlikely song inside out. She’s done it before with her tongue-in-cheek adaptation of the Deep Purple rock anthem ‘Smoke On The Water’ and Mungo Jerry’s irresistible, irresponsible and politically incorrect ‘In The Summertime’. -

Havent't spoiled it yet, and Berman is a delight. Speaking of Amanda, I just had your marathon premium of the same name in my hands yesterday, as yet unplayed! And the Jazz Messengers, which I'll be uploading to my itunes. Your recent attentions to Jazz has been mightily informative to ears that knew little of the genre, and found the most recent Jazz to be just the sort of irritating saxaphone bleatings you mentioned earlier. The show is over?

I mostly know him through the Truckers. This is a side I had heard from him.
