Brown Acid, First Daze, Passout, LSD, is there a theme to this set? If so, how does America Now fits there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am

"Like Going Down Sideways"? Is Nate trolling you here, fred?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am
Nate K.:

@Fred, let me think on that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am
fred:

@Sem: Nate is the (hopefully benevolent) dictator here, he can troll as much as he wants. I'm happy to feel the burn (Bern?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am
Nate K.:

@Fred I've thought about it. I think the dumb-yet- brilliant hairy-guy, acid-blown, neanderthal rock is the antidote to "America Today"? Maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am
fred:

Well, then again America Today seems to be seriously considering a dumb-yet-successful neanderthal with acid-fueled-hair-cred for president

@Fred, I think that's Trump's new campaign slogan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28am
Sem Chumbo:

@fred even being from, as National Lampoon once called Canada,"the Retarded Giant Next Door", and having grown up submerged in the 10,000 things of Americanism, I do not have a clue why things politically have come to this. Novelty that morphs into a *credible* run for POTUS makes me feel the same way that I did, stoned, watching Ronald Reagan on late night half hour infomercials in the fall of '79.
Something terminally and terribly askew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34am
fred:

A personal favorite dance show was called Small Hands (out of the lie of no). That would fit too.
That was a duo with my favorite dancer (Cynthia Loemij) dancing with my fave choreographer (Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker). The show was sold out and I had worked 30+ hours straight, but I went to the venue begging for a ticket 6 hours before opening time. Someone at the venue took pity and sold me one, with the provision that I couldn't take up a seat but had to seat right on the border of the stage. Is that a bad thing? I don't think so
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38am
Sem Chumbo:

Point taken, w/ gratitude for the clarity, fred.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am

AFK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am
fred:

@Sem: It looks like we may very well elect our first female president over here in france. If that looks like progress, she's leading the national front. If Reagan was proof of something terminally ans terribly askew, do you have words for a Brigitte Bardot supported neo-nazi?
Avatar 7:55am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

WWII followed the Depression. Take the money out, people get mean & vote for Fascists. This is known, & none of it is by accident - altho' Trump may be a Frankenstein's monster not even the Republican Party planned on - tho' every policy prepared his way. Our 1st female U.S. Prez may very well be the blandest Nixonian appeal to the 'Silent Majority' imaginable...But the irresponsible, unresponsive & corrupt System cannot - & will not - stand very much longer. Not everyone is drinking the koolaid - & the foundations are rotten & as unreliable to stand on as our failing highway bridges...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00am
fred:

@RevRab: I'm afraid you're being too optimistic there. That corrupt system has stood for thousand of years. Its foundations are sound, based on self-interest, real or imagined. Most people don't want to take from the rich because they think they'll soon join the club. That's the real purpose of the American Dream meme.
Avatar 8:07am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes - but more see thru the American Dream given the intensity of the American Nightmare they're living - all the time. Trump is in fact the manipulated & inarticulate manifestation of it - & Bernie is the more informed version. The perpetrators of the Dream are perhaps the most addicted to it - but it cannot endure for even them either - whatever they believe. The resources just aren't there for that much more of it...I'm not optimistic @ all - in the sense that I see catastrophe. Economic & Environmental collapse seem more likely all the time.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am
Nate K.:

@Sem, I'm not surprised. It slays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am
fred:

@Sem: piling on: her second in command is openly gay, and she has support in zionist circles because they both want Jews to move from france to israel. The center does not hold
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am
Sem Chumbo:

Jesus, fred, overt carrot and stick at the same time.
Zugzwang.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34am
fred:

@Sem: She trades in hate, and every community relates to that. Jews support her because she hates Arabs. Arabs support her because she hates Jews. Blacks support her because she hates Arabs. Whites support her because she hates all of the above. Hate as a unifier. Trump could be president
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am
Sem Chumbo:

@fred: If Trump becomes President, I might have to move to Cape Breton.

Elections are about Enthusiasm. It's a hell of a way to choose World Leaders.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40am

@Sem: looks like you could be fighting out invaders. Though people always say they'll leave, then end up supporting the new leader. Moving is such a personal ordeal, fascism only affects others

Thanks for playing the Remains, Nate! Went to see them at a junior high school (!) in Pawtucket RI last Saturday -- it was fund raiser for the school and 50 people showed up. Oh well. They were good too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46am

Yes, fred, the lessons of human history, repetitive though they may be, are like the house odds in Vegas. Ignored at your peril.
Avatar 8:46am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

True - but we Muricans don't like our wallets messed w/ tho'. The question then is do you go w/ Hitler or FDR...or - our choice this year is maybe more like Mussolini, Nixon, or FDR - the lite versions...
Remains still playing!
...Soundtrack to the political conference flawless, btw...

@Will, that's wild. I'm impressed that the band agreed to do it. I wonder if it was post Beatles tour.
