Lakou Mizik: Vibrant Sounds of Haiti
Live Session and Interview with Video

Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player! | Add or read comments

Lakou Mizik is a multi-generational pan-Haitian all-star band. The nine members brilliantly blend vodou percussion, rara street music, troubadour traditions, konpa dance music and lots more. Lakou Mizik came together with a serious mission to send a positive message after their country's cataclysmic 2010 earthquake - but they're also all about fun. They'll be spreading the musical message soon on a North American tour to support their stellar debut album Wa Di Yo (Cumbancha):

They have a big show opening for Baaba Maal at Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park on June 16th. They'll perform as part of a benefit for the Artists Institute of Jacmel, Haiti at Florence Gould Hall in midtown on June 1st. And of course tonight on WFMU: Lakou Mizik's Garden State debut.

Plus - watch the video of the performance on this page!

Lakou Mizik’s June / July North American tour dates are at http://lakoumizik.com/shows.
