February 16, 2003: Duct Tape Days...

Artist Track Album Comments New
Tonight's show was exactly the aural therapy I needed for curing the code-orange/heightened alert blues. A friend of mine insists that New York City's doomsday clock is inching closer and closer to midnight, and sometimes -- for instance, when people are running around sealing their homes with duct tape -- I'm inclined to believe him. Couple that with the fact that I'm starting to dream about my own life as though it were a sports highlights reel narrated by Warner Wolf, and you can perhaps understand how things in this part of the country are a little edgy. But on the flipside, a dirty bomb could've explode right in the main studio, and I probably wouldn't have noticed because I had the Bullet Lavolta record cranked to planet-shattering volume.

Seriously, I'm sorry if my remarks about today's peace rally and the grim international situations unfolding with Iraq and North Korea seemed inappropriate. But you have to understand that I've slowly been going completely out of my mind for some time now, and the only thing that keeps me grounded in any level of sanity is reveling in the absurdity of the times. So pack your bags and be ready for the call -- if the Space Ark shows up, so help me deity-of-your-choice, I'll be the first in line to get off this freakin' rock.
