Just when I post flowers as my cover art on Facebook, winter says, "Not so fast." Either that or Julie has conjured up a storm to set the mood for her show.

JakeGould:

Also, this rebound into winter after one day of spring… I’m not feeling it. Screw this weather.

That's surprising, I'm amazed at how different the weather was in DC today compared to up there.

This station sure proves that point. And that there's good music from every year as well!

Like I've said before: there are no "bad" years for music, though certain years are noticeably "thin" on good music.

Avatar 1:56am

@Julie: 1990! Is one year we've agreed on quite a few playlists! Though I counted at least "one hand's worth" of good releases :)

The La's one and only
The Church "Gold Afternoon Fix"
Guided By Voices
Cocteau Twins "Heaven or Las Vegas"
His Name Is Alive (both 4AD)

Bring in some others and I think you have a deal! :D

Lush: Gala (1990)
Ride: First 3 EPs (1990)
Other stuff as well.
Avatar 2:12am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: It's good Genesis when you can't tell if it's Peter or Phil--that was probably their best era, on both sides of the divide.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13am
Tome:

yep originally on Selling England by the Pound
Avatar 2:15am
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, of course Lush. Thanks Jake!
A lot of what I would call good includes a lot of dreampop releases from that year--perhaps Mazzy Star and others might also be from then.

(Of course, the challenge w/ 1990 is to not fill the total with '89 or '91 songs, since there were so many good ones for those particular years).
  2:17am
JakeGould:

@Matt: The challenge for me this year is realizing that I talked to some folks about how great it was to see Lush and Ride live back then... And realizing these folks weren't even born then...
Avatar 2:19am
Matt from Springfield:

@Jake: Yep, the years are really stacking up. I was born then, though not much older.

En Allemand - Das Beste In Deutsch! France Gall goes from Gaul to Franks for this one...

@Julie: I know what you mean. Anything computery/electronic works auf Deutsch, and there's an inherent silly streak in a lot of German pop "schlager" and drinking songs, so this goes well in that language!

Avatar 2:55am

I oughta look for other all-female Ramones albums--not just females "redoing" the songs in the same style, but various groups re-imagining the Ramones as they would do it. There's prob some comps out there.
